About the role

 

We’re looking for an experienced Expert Technical Product Manager who is looking for a new challenge. In this position you'll help build the travel booking experience across our mobile and web apps, ensuring that SAP Concur’s travel tools meet a high standard of usability and design excellence that supports elegant and simple user experiences. You will get your hands dirty the whole way, working with cross vertical teams using a Mobile & Cloud-first approach.

 

This position is on the Travel OBT Technical Product Management team and will be responsible for designing and delivering increments to SAP Concur corporate booking tool.   The GDS Technical Product Manager will help drive some of the most critical design decisions behind SAP Concur’s online booking tool and other products in the SAP Concur portfolio.  For example, a successful candidate could expect to co-own designing the Air shopping user experience then determining the appropriate GDS shopping API to utilize to facilitate the design.   The innovative solutions that you will be responsible for are endless!

 

In the first 12 months in this role, you will:

  • Become SAP Concur’s subject matter expert in your domain.
  • Work with other Travel OBT Technical Product Managers to develop a roadmap for product releases. Establish a clear intake process for newly identified work for your projects and ensure that all stakeholders are aware of decisions when competing priorities arise.
  • Understand how evolution of the business travel market will create gaps and challenges for new releases and develop strategies to get and stay ahead.
  • Understand how increments of Concur Travel impact Travel Management Companies and leverage their requirements when designing features.
  • Enable the successful delivery of air, train, car, and hotel booking tool initiatives dependent on your specific GDS services by managing risks and dependencies.
  • Partner with your engineering team to ensure your services are highly reliable, scalable, and secure.
  • Partner with your engineering team to ensure that the features you offer internally and externally comply with SAP Concur’s standards so that all customers, internal or external, have predictable experiences across the portfolio.
  • Ensure your features enable data-driven decisions for the creation or sunset of features.
  • Influence externally and internally at all levels, secure buy-in, and drive successful execution of complicated projects across teams and time zones.
  • Develop a deep understanding of existing implementations of your areas and, in partnership with technical leadership, develop a roadmap for sunsetting legacy services.
  • Foster technical relationships with peers at external stakeholders, including data providers and travel suppliers.

 Qualifications

  • BS, BA or Masters, ideally with a focus on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or Information Technology
  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner
  • Solid understanding of how software is built, deployed and tested in cloud provider environments.
  • Experience creating, maintaining, and sunsetting features for internal and external customers with competing needs.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy and security for Saas products
  • Demonstrated ability creating products that power rich operational awareness and business intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability working effectively with complex stakeholder networks and competing priorities and an ability to convert ambiguity into alignment and action
  • Successful practice of agile methodologies at enterprise scale with distributed teams
  • Track record of successfully delivering product features against aggressive timelines
  • Excellent communications skills, to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Travel industry or corporate online booking tool experience is strongly valued
