Vice President, Head of Communications Greater China

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Primary communications support resource for Regional President (and at times their extended regional leadership team), responsible for designing and executing on integrated communications campaigns across multiple internal and external channels and for multiple market units.

The role works directly with the Regional President, where you will act as a trusted advisor to one of the business' senior leaders within the Global Customer Success organzaion (CS). Responsbile for building and sustaining a positive personal brand image with both internal and external stakeholders, this role requires a robust understanding of SAP and industry in order to craft and tailor personal messaging, talk tracks and broad stakeholder management. 

 

The role will be responsible for leading the communications team across the Greater China region, ensuring direction, development, and engagement of the team.

 

You will report into the Regional Customer Success Communications (CSC) Head and will be part of a team where you will connect with market unit communications leads to ensure a streamlined and accurate collation of important MU activity which can and should be used by the Regional President to amplify positive SAP activity and boost their personal profile.

The role is based in Beijing.

 

EXPECTATIONS & TASKS:

  • Leads a Greater China regional team in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
  • Is a true business partner and a trusted advisor for their Regional President and broader leadership team
  • Is responsible for designing and executing an Executive Communications program to best present the Regional President and deliver core SAP messaging to external stakeholder groups
  • Leads media and analyst relations (targeting media and influencers for executive and relevant SAP news opportunities to build awareness and reputation from positive media and analyst coverage) and employee communications (building channels, creating and sharing content, and reaching out to audiences, involvement with organizing and supporting employee events, organizational announcements, and other corporate initiatives and events).
  • Works collaboratively with other teams including Marketing, Purpose/CSR, HR, Government relations, to support corporate activities and topics.
  • Has a good understanding of a working budget and can manage requests and create business cases for activity, working closely with the regional CFO.
  • Participate in and contribute to SAP global communications and global Customer Success organization priorities and team leadership.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Executive Communications:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to one of the business’ senior leaders within the Global Customer Success organization (CS).
  • Responsible for building and sustaining a positive personal brand image with both internal and external stakeholders,

Employee Communications:

  • Manage internal communications that focuses on consistent and engaging messaging for employees – working strongly with HR and local business leaders based on the company business plan and company vision to create consistent key messages
  • Delivery through activities such as video production, email communications, face to face All Hands meetings, coffee corners, speaking engagements/employee addresses

 

Media relations:

  • Build and strengthen a personal network of regional/national media contacts
  • Create thought leadership strategy for awareness in the media ensuring the overarching SAP priorities are adhered to, to deliver a rolling momentum of media coverage and message penetration.
  • Build strong collaboration with Marketing and market unit communications teams to leverage and amplify the best SAP customer stories
  • Engage and manage external agencies, providing clear direction and focus to ensure alignment to global and local messages and ensure message and media training for industry and product spokespeople

 

Customer communications:

  • Support broader team with crafting meaningful and impactful customer communications across video, email and f2f interactions

 

Event speaker planning and keynote management:

  • Identify and prioritise key event speaking opportunities to further personal brand and Customer Success priorities
  • Work with broader SAP teams (marketing, MU communications, government relations etc) to craft compelling speaking sessions, mapped to key audiences
  • Working closely with Regional President and leadership team to draft relevant talking points and scripts to enable best in class message delivery and presentation support development.
  • Broader management of event logistics and on-site support for Regional President participation

 

Social Media Management:

  • Active monitoring and management of Regional President social channels
  • Autonomy with creation and posting to ensure momentum of SAP and industry content being distributed to internal and external stakeholders
  • Keeping abreast of key trends and industry issues to ensure timely and relevant interaction
  • Measurement and effectiveness analysis and reporting

 

WORK EXPERIENCE: 10+ years

  • Experience in working with multiple types of communications audiences and influencers (media, bloggers, analysts, government officials, employee communications)
  • Experience in providing communications counsel to senior executives
  • Experience in media relations strategy and execution
  • Experience in social media content development and placement
  • Experience in communications effectiveness measurement
  • Experience in effective external agency management.
  • Experience in design and implementation of annual and campaign communications concepts and plans
  • Experience in storytelling and copywriting across media types eg text, video, design
  • Experience in handling confidential material
     

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • University degree
  • Excellent Chinese and English writing and editing skills
  • Self-motivated and team oriented
  • Flexible and able to cope with ambiguity and change
  • Understanding of China IT market
  • Ability to transform corporate strategy into powerful messages for various communications disciplines
