PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

SAP Export Control is a central function that is responsible for ensuring SAP’s compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations, including trade sanctions. It defines SAP’s export control and trade sanctions compliance policy, advises the company on legal requirements and best practices and monitors SAP’s deliveries on premise and in the Cloud.

SAP Export Control reports to the Executive Board. SAP Export Control includes an operations team that is responsible for ensuring compliance through appropriate export control compliance processes and policies and a legal team which supports the operations team and other functions at SAP with legal advice and with the implementation of new or changing regulatory requirements.

SAP Export Control is based at SAP’s headquarters in Germany, with employees in Germany, India, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States of America. It closely interacts with global and local functions in the areas of legal and compliance, security, product development, logistics and operations.

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

 The Greater China Export Control Coordinator is the main driver for export control and trade compliance in Greater China and acts as a representative of the Export Control Team.

 The Greater China Export Control Coordinator´s main tasks include:

  •  Provide legal advice for activities relating to the export control and trade sanctions compliance of goods and services relevant to Greater China;
  • Interpret and explain export/trade related compliance requirements and regulations applicable to the region and assist in resolving issues.
  • Work closely with other members of the SAP Export Control Team, regional legal teams, local commercial teams and other functions at SAP, as required to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Promote knowledge creation and sharing within Greater China.
  • Increase awareness of export control & trade sanctions compliance on management level.
  • Analyze changes in local laws and support local implementation projects.
  • Help strengthen the global export control & trade compliance community within SAP.
  • Support the Export Control Team in a case of supervisory authority requests within Greater China.
  • Conduct monitoring to ensure that local processes within Greater China are adopted.
  • Provide education and training sessions.

 

Required skills

  • Qualified attorney in China,ability to work in an international environment

  • Good knowledge of export control and trade compliance regulations and best practices and/or strong desire to deepen understanding of export control and trade compliance laws for assigned region
  • Good project management skills, good team-working skills
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin, strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong C-level communication skill
  • Assertive and convincing personality, high level of commitment and flexibility
  • Ability to lead a virtual team without formal authority
