COMPANY DESCRIPTION

SAP started in 1972 as a team of five colleagues with a desire to do something new. Together, they changed enterprise software and reinvented how business was done. Today, as a market leader in enterprise application software, we remain true to our roots. That’s why we engineer solutions to fuel innovation, foster equality and spread opportunity for our employees and customers across borders and cultures.

SAP values the entrepreneurial spirit, fostering creativity and building lasting relationships with our employees. We know that a diverse and inclusive workforce keeps us competitive and provides opportunities for all. We believe that together we can transform industries, grow economics, lift up societies and sustain our environment. Because it’s the best-run businesses that make the world run better and improve people’s lives.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

SAP Concur is a pioneer in the travel and expense industry.  In addition to developing the world’s largest (by market share) on-line booking tool, SAP Concur aims to transform the travel and employee-directed spend market.  With pioneering products such as Concur Expense®, Concur Invoice®, Concur Travel®, TripIt® and TripLink® in our portfolio, we require a strong investment in Product and Security Architecture, Cloud Operations Excellence, and our various development tools in order to be successful.  In addition, we need a strong leader who can continue to grow our engineering guardrails to ensure that the Engineering teams operate efficiently.   The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for SAP Concur leads a team of over 200 Engineers focused on all technical topics that are not directly part of the Concur product line but do enable our other engineering processes.  The CTO’s organization focuses on keeping our software up and running securely and providing direction for changes in our architecture to improve our security and auditability.  This role reports to the SAP Concur Chief Product Officer and is a key member of the SAP Concur Product and Engineering executive team.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

  • Build and motivate a world class team of Architects and Engineers.
  • Partner with the SAP Concur Heads of Engineering for the various products and other key stakeholders to set the direction for Architecture and our Engineering discipline.
  • Build out a function for Engineering Operations to ensure proper guardrails and paths to career growth for all Engineers.
  • Manage Site Reliability Engineering team, focused on monitoring and insuring uptime
  • Collaborate with CTOs across SAP on Cross-Product Architecture topics, including adoption of SAP’s Business Technology Platform
  • Set department vision, objectives, and key results which are realized through a management team.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of new capabilities in our tooling and infrastructure, and ongoing compliance to quality targets, SAP’s Product Standards and Corporate Requirements, and operational SLAs.
  • Manage budgets and hiring for the organization
  • Oversee interactions with other teams across SAP to ensure on-time delivery of joint products and effective management of customer interactions
  • Provide mentoring and management for team members through 1:1s and team coaching.
  • Contribute and/or drive design, security, engineering, and operational reviews
  • Ensure the SAP Concur Engineering organizations are aligned with SAP’s Secure Development and Operations Lifecycle (SDOL) framework for software delivery.  This is the successor to a traditional Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and ensures that we are not only able to deliver high quality, performant software to our customers, but also ensure that we define and execute appropriate security controls across all Engineering organizations.
