The Principal Product Owner has full responsibility for a product area within the Platform Group of the SAP Signavio engineering department and as such oversees the work of multiple embedded product owners and associated engineering teams. The successful candidate will work on large-scale, ill-defined, problems on group and department level with the goal to create a clear vision & objectives, as well as a compelling strategy to achieve those objectives. Your deep domain knowledge allows you to work closely with our Principal Design Lead and Engineering Leaders. You actively leverage your experience and leadership skills within the organization by working with design & technical leaders and/or individual contributors to create better communication and collaboration within the group. As part of your strategic overview, you actively measure output quality.

What You'll Do

  • Drive strategic improvements and their implementation in engineering. Make high-impact decisions in regards to strategic direction & prioritization of all engineering efforts
  • Bring awareness to critical issues and align improvement efforts. Being responsible for implementation and usage of engineering metrics.
  • Oversee product development initiatives and ensure their success. Create alignment between the strategic direction of the group and the department.
  • Provide functional leadership for embedded product owners. Apply coach-the-coach approach to develop colleagues and ensure teams are set up for success. 
  • Initiate, drive and create buy-in for standardization for practices.
  • Ensure that initiatives are prioritized correctly within engineering backlogs.
  • Regularly sync efforts with stakeholders such as design and technical leaders to ensure transparency and alignment with big-picture initiatives.

What You'll Bring

  • Previous experience (6+ years) within agile software development teams and proven goal-oriented mindset. Structured and data-driven working approach.
  • Outstanding analytical and creative thinking. Continuous innovator, critical thinker and driver of change.
  • High level of self-awareness and reflection. Role model in terms of teamwork and communication
  • Best in class product owner skills and the ability to take a project from concept to production.
  • Good knowledge of UX methodologies & artifacts (wireframes, personas, flows).
  • Experience in leading, mentoring and coaching.
  • A proactive self-starting attitude, comfortable with aligning with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage up and down in the organization, make decisions and work transparently.
  • Background in B2B enterprise product development.
