PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Cloud Infrastructure Services (CIS) is responsible for running SAP’s backend technology including operations of state-of-the-art data centers and the technical platforms as integral part and foundation for all SAP Cloud solutions and services around the globe.
The Cloud Infrastructure Services unit provides these shared services for SAP’s external Cloud Business and also for SAP’s internal infrastructure such as development, training, or demo landscapes.
Within CIS and among other responsibility, the Infrastructure Build organization is globally responsible to fulfill the demand for Infrastructure capacities in the various Data Centers and hand it over to the consumers of the Infrastructure and to the Infrastructure Run organization. The Infrastructure Build is set up in regional units.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
The Build Validation Associate supports globally the technical validation of all infrastructure builds for a given product line consisting of server, network, storage, backup and peripheral equipment. Together with the Build Validation Manager he ensures all technical aspects and dependencies are aligned with the stakeholders of the build validation team, technical feasibility and availability of infrastructure is assured, dependable configuration documentation is created, and timelines are kept.

The responsibility includes:

  • Support of the Infrastructure Build Validation for one or more product line
  • Facilitating the Build validation process and ensuring timelines (KPIs) are met
  • Joint accountability for completeness and integrity of the Infrastructure Build Validation deliverables to be handed over to the Order Execution Managers and next Work Center
  • Support the OEM in their role to ensure E2E responsibility of the build process
  • Responsibility to involve all departments required to achieve complete, dependable and repeatable process output
  • Attend Build validation meetings with the stakeholders
  • Creation of approved configuration documentation for individual builds and locations
  • Support reporting and administrative tasks across product lines
  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce validation and overall build times and ensure quality

The role will work closely together with the Build Validation Managers and experts from Infrastructure Architecture, Customer Engagement, Data Center Management, Order Execution Management and various other Work Centers within the CIS organization. The position is within a global team with colleagues in EMEA, AMER and APJ.
The role reports to the Head of GCS Global Executive Services based in Hungary.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required skills:

  • Very good coordination and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a self-contained way
  • General knowledge of IT Infrastructure technologies and Infrastructure architectures
    • Basic functionalities of a Datacenter
    • General understanding of a Network within a DC
    • Basic understanding of Server set ups (Virtualization and bare metal)
    • General understanding of Backup & Storage
  • Consumer / customer orientation, high quality of work focus’ and result / deliverable oriented thinking
  • Ability to achieve results in a globally distributed organization and eagerness to work with people of other cultures
  • Fluent in Business English
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred skills:

  • Project management knowledge (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP)
  • ITIL certification
  • Experience with the methods and tools of product build in IT or other industries

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree + 3-4 years’ work experience or Master’s degree + 1-2 years’ work experience, preferably in IT Infrastructure or other comparable industries (e.g. manufacturing or construction)
