The buck stops with you on all aspects of your SaaS products’ success. We are looking for someone with the full package of skills and knowledge to run a software engineering organization responsible for a significant investment area of our product portfolio. You need to go “up” and effectively communicate and work with upper management in delivering on our strategy, and go “down” and work through complex, detailed problems the team is having trouble solving.


As a Vice President of Engineering, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging, or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to current and future design specifications. You will also build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision and support delivery of improvements to the architecture.


The VP of Engineering will need to work collaboratively with other engineering leaders within and outside the organization to deliver business outcomes. You will also work very closely with Product Management and Customer Support organization to continuously review release priorities, balancing new features with technical debts reduction and investment on customer quality.


The VP Engineering must have a strong track record of execution and delivery, the ability to get things done and ship product. In addition, he or she will:

  • Build and motivate a world class team of development and operations engineers
  • Develop, lead, and inspire the Product Engineering team to ensure effective communication of initiatives, objectives, issues, and quality delivery which are realized through a management team
  • Drive product delivery through Agile development methodologies
  • Allow software to react quickly to changing market and business needs
  • Ensure on-time delivery of new cloud application capabilities and on-going compliance to NFRs and SLAs
  • Develop and cultivate a culture of quality and engineering craftsmanship and excellence
  • Partner with rest of leadership team and key stakeholders to set strategic direction
  • Oversee interactions with other teams at SAP to ensure on-time delivery of joint products and effective management of customer interactions
  • Formulate long-term standards of performance for the team
  • Provide mentoring and management for team members by 1:1s, reviewing design docs, and team coaching
  • Skilled people manager with experience leading and growing a high-performing distributed team
  • Understand innovation mechanisms and handle inherent challenges
  • Consistently raise standards, insisting on the best and drive a continuous improvement culture
  • Focus on being customer centric and delivering the right results for the customer.

What you bring


  • 15+ years of proven leadership, managing and growing global teams to over 30 engineers and managers
  • Have a proven track record of building a culture of design excellence that develop high-impact products
  • Demonstrated success recruiting and retaining high quality technical teams
  • Experience delivering 99.99+ Uptime Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), or Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings to Enterprise customers
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud development and delivery technologies inclusive of developer operations tools
  • Experience in developing applications that leverage connections into disparate application environments
  • Experience implementing well-run, agile processes in multiple functions: Development, QA, Release, SRE, and Ops
  • Ability to communicate vision and strategy effectively to the team, partners, and clients
  • Experience managing complicated dependencies on other teams within a larger organization
  • Technical knowledge required to command the respect of high-octane engineering team
  • Strong advocate for Agile development processes
  • Ability to deliver highest quality under deadline pressure, while juggling multiple tasks and in complex environments, strong organizational skills
  • Be comfortable with leading change
  • Intellectually rigorous and creative problem-solving ability.
