The Director of Strategic Programs is responsible for the creation and execution of strategic programs across the Midwest Market Unit (MW MU) aligned with our strategic annual goals.  This includes working with the leadership team to develop business strategies, create and execute key programs that are repeatable and scalable, and drive sales initiatives.
Key Areas of Responsibility and Tasks:

  • Develop, refine and adopt standardized innovative methods to improve productivity through tools, content and solutions across the MU (Industry and LoB).
  • Develop and package sales strategies and engagement best practices that provide SAP differentiation and excite the customer. Provide training, content and tools to allow rapid assimilation and large-scale field use.
  • Lead, support and execute key events across the MU to include QBR’s, FKOM and team meetings
  • Create and execute a Social Media program for Senior Leaders
  • Drive creation and execution of key programs focused on strategic activities across the business.  Managing or overseeing various ad-hoc requests
  • Take proactive steps to challenge areas of the business and bring creative ideas to the leaders whereby enabling greater efficiency and scale for the sales team
  • Take active steps to understand the business of SAP and our customer Industries whereby ensuring our programs remain relevant to what’s happening in the market
  • Engage with the extended team across the Market Unit to seek feedback on what’s working / what’s not and frame solutions
  • Bring an informed point of view to the discussions that ensures the leaders have a complete point of view of what’s happening in the business to make informed decisions. 
  • Serve as the “voice” of the sales teams in strategic discussions
  • Support the “up leveling” of the Midwest leadership team brand internally and in the market
  • Coordinate enablement needs with Global and Regional teams
  • Ability to work in “open” space without specific direction that allows for the assessment of what’s happening in the business and provide proactive recommendations for improvement.

Ideal Candidate Profile: 

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant business experience, preferrably within the software industry; varied backgrounds and diverse candidates desirable
  • Very strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator with strong empathy and the ability to motivate and influence individuals beyond his/her direct field of control. This requires strong facilitation and consulting skills, and the ability to stay neutral and calm in challenging circumstances
  • Very high-trust individual who works well in cross-functional and matrixed environments
  • Experience in marketing & sales roles
  • Expertise in leveraging marketing analytics to understand and forecast product and industry trends, map customer decision-making journeys, and make organizational assessments to deliver high-impact recommendations to the leadership teams.
  • Action-oriented - who thrives in intense working situations with tight deadlines and is accustomed to very high-quality standards
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and spoken); able to give and command respect; strong team player
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to keep track and follow up on a lot of different threads simultaneously
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is a plus
  • Travel: less than 25%
