What you’ll do:

We are searching for a VMware Solution (Senior/ Architect) (f/m/d) as a Service Owner and Subject Matter Expert being responsible for designing, administrating and maintaining a large-scale VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware Cloud Director infrastructure. 

You will work on continuously improving the existing infrastructure setup, evaluate and adopt new technologies and IT service operations principles. You will enable cross team collaboration and leverage improvements achieved in other areas of SAP’s Global Cloud Services unit.

You will manage escalation processes, support troubleshooting and root cause analysis in a 3rd level support role. You will be responsible for managing larger projects, creating and assigning delivery outcomes and milestones in projects. The collaboration within local and global distributed teams as well as the coordination of external service providers to ensure the rock-solid and smooth operation of the compute infrastructure are part of your daily activities. You will continuously improve, optimize and standardize our operational delivery services and processes to fulfill KPI targets.

What you bring:


  • Extensive experience and expert/architecture knowledge with VMware vCF (vSphere, vCloud Director, NSX-T, …)
  • Extensive experience and expert knowledge in Monitoring and Logging Solutions like vRops, LogInsight
  • Hands-on experience with driving incident management, problem management and root cause analysis as well as change management
  • A team player with the ability to work well with other multicultural team members across various locations with exceptional interpersonal, team building and coordination skills
  • Bachelor/Master degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or comparable qualification 
  • Fluent business English, presentation, and communication skills
  • Excellent coordination and organizational skills
  • 8+ years of experience in managing and running large-scale VMware infrastructure
  • Familiarity with datacenter operations
  • VMware and ITIL certifications would be a plus
  • Development skills (like Rest API, Python, Ansible, Terraform, OpenStack)

The Internal Cloud Platforms team (INTCP) within SAP Global Cloud Services (GCS) is responsible for running and improving VMware based environments on SAPs internal cloud platform (Converged Cloud) to provide services to SAP Learning and Development units.
