(Senior) Software Java Engineer - Upgrades & Migration

A (Senior) Software Engineer is primarily responsible for ensuring a high quality execution of SAP Commerce Upgrade and Cloud Migration projects.


As a (Senior) Software Engineer, you will: 

  • Be responsible for coordinating and delegating tasks, as well as reviewing team code, ensuring solution quality and project plan fulfilment
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development guidelines and best practices 
  • Collaborate closely with customers, Software Engineers, Consultants, Cloud Teams and Project Managers to understand the scope of work and conduct technical reviews to ensure consistency
  • This is a technical role that requires strong product and Cloud framework knowledge, good leadership skills and a holistic solution overview.

 

Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing code adaptations
  • Java code design and development
  • Integrating new technologies into existing applications
  • Working with SAP Commerce Cloud framework based on MS Azure, Kubernetes and Docker as subject matter expert
  • Planning and supporting testing, deployment and data migration activities
  • Developing standards and best practices
  • Conducting code reviews and providing feedback to other team members 
  • Coordinating, splitting and delegating tasks within project teams
  • Coaching and mentoring less experienced team members
  • Supporting Project Managers and other SAP roles in project scoping, planning and pre-sales activities
  • Close collaboration with customers, team members and other SAP teams to ensure common business understanding
  • Taking technical ownership of the solution
  • Ensuring high quality deliveries from the team throughout the development process
  • Assisting in interviews 

 

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates for this role will have the following:
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Computer science degree or equivalent education
  • 2-5 years Java development experience
  • Good working knowledge of Cloud frameworks and technologies such as MS Azure, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Good working knowledge of all major database engines
  • Good working knowledge of the Spring framework
  • Very good knowledge of all web application layers (data, service, presentation)
  • Experience in data processing (SQL, XML)
  • Experience and understanding of application performance tuning
