POSITION DESCRIPTION

SAP NS2 is seeking a Deputy General Counsel at our headquarters in Herndon, Virginia, to report to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Core responsibilities include assisting the General Counsel in managing the legal, compliance, and contracts functions; providing expert counsel to the business on transactional, operational, risk related and litigation matters; and overseeing external legal advisors, as necessary.  The position requires independent thinking with strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills, superior business judgement, the ability to resolve complex issues in an effective and solution-oriented manner, and the ability to manage multiple projects and transactions at the same time.  The ability to work with a team across a wide organization is critical.  The individual must have experience conducting investigations and handling complex litigation, developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures, overseeing risk assessments and internal audits, conducting corporate due diligence, and managing employee training. The position requires knowledge of data security, privacy, export controls, sanctions, anti-corruption laws, and corporate governance.

Job requirements:

JD from an ABA accredited law school

Admitted to practice law in Virginia or Pennsylvania, or willingness to gain admission by complying with rules for in-house corporate counsel

10-15 years of legal experience in relevant government, law firm and/or in-house positions

Extensive experience in national security law, including export controls, economic sanctions, and government contracts.  As well as experience with employment law, internal investigations and/or litigation a plus. 

Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 174,300-394,400 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
