Release Manager - DevOps


The Release Manager owns the Release Management process and has the responsibility and authority for the overall process results. The Release Manager is responsible for the overall quality and security of the services and the process. You will be the main coordinator within this process and is the focal point regarding releases for both the customer and the IT organization. Therefore, all managers in the Eureka organization must support in his/her role.

Release managers today must have comprehensive knowledge of CI/CD protocols and DevOps auto deployment tools as well as ensuring security. They must understand how the CI/CD pipeline, which is central to the quick release cycle, works, and be able to identify defects early. In addition, release managers must understand:

Feature Toggles: A unique prevailing tool that enables developers to amend system behavior without altering the code, to help expedite the release cycle.
Branch Handling: Used for parallel development of different patches of software.


Core Responsibilities

  • Closely work with development engineering, product management, security, and customer success teams to plan release contents and schedule.
  • Track the progress of development and testing closely and update senior management regularly.
  • Ensure services implement required security features such as authentication, authorization, input validation and denial of service mitigation
  • Lead development teams in threat modeling and vulnerability assessment and work with the team to go through SAP Security Validation process
  • Implement standards for secure coding and deployment
  • Identify dependencies and risks in development and testing of features and fixes and resolve them expeditiously
  • Establish consistent continuous release management processes, tools, and checklists
  • Define best practices for using our tools in order to make sure projects are released using consistent and repeatable methodologies.
  • Report on metrics like cycle time, velocity and use those to drive improvements and release burndown status.
  • Ensure a smooth flow of continuous integration of codes to the production team.
  • Facilitate cross-department coordination of release management functions in a geographically distributed engineering team.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software services to cloud platforms, preferably GCP
  • Use required tools to create and maintain CI/CD pipeline
  • Actively identify technical or process improvement opportunities, and partner with Engineering or customer facing teams to implement them
  • Lead the end-to-end release workflows and detailed steps - to ensure on-time and effective delivery of high-quality releases
  • Work closely with dependent teams, get and track their commitments toward the release
  • Track an enterprise-wide release calendar.
  • Measure release cadence and effectiveness using common metrics across the entire software portfolio

A Successful Candidate requirements

  • Expertise and leadership in Software Release Management
  • 5+ years‘ experience in releasing services in Cloud environment
  • 5+ years’ experience with project management tools and practices
  • 5+ years strong project management skills with accountability for end-to-end delivery
  • 5+ years experience in security coding, vulnerability assessment and threat modeling
  • Track record in successful delivery under tight deadlines
  • Experience in governing both waterfall as well as Agile/DevOps project lifecycles
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Spinnaker, Bitbucket, and Travis CI
  • Experience in software development, programming, and management tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems


  • Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems
  • Experience in software deployment and setup of environments in GCP
  • Experience with Microservices architecture
  • Experience in security features such as authentication, authorization, and secure development
