SAP’s Returnship Program is a 20 week paid returnship targeting mid-career professionals who’ve taken a 2+ year career break for caregiving, relocation or military service. Since 2018, SAP has offered a structured returnship program because we appreciate the skills you offer, the perspective you provide, and the contributions you will make.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Expectations & Tasks

The Solution Manager is responsible for driving competitive advantage for SAP by combining products across SAP’s designated market categories into high value business solutions and coordinating end-to-end execution across different SAP functional areas. The Solution Manager helps define and articulate SAP’s strategy for a designated industry or solution area which includes: defining pricing and marketing strategies, engaging with customers to develop solution strategies and roadmaps, supporting product launch and knowledge roll-outs, and enabling sales, pre-sales, marketing and the global partner ecosystem on key solution capabilities and differentiators. The Solution Manager also supports the pipeline generation, value engineering, and field enablement for the industry.

 

Support end-to-end virtual P&L (SSRS, Services, Cloud):

  • Align SAP value chain from portfolio, development, solution packaging, field enablement, eco-system, and customer adoption.
  • Formulate and execute on strategic plan to achieve growth and profit targets.
  • Develop and execute on solution vision for expansion of products in the industry and beyond.
  • Work closely with Development to bring new products and enhancements to existing products to market.
  • Create differentiation of solutions against competitors and develop industry thought leadership.
  • Provide strategic executive deal leadership to the regional field sales team on strategic, must win accounts.
  • Work strategically with senior executives to articulate, refine, and drive execution of go-to- market plans.
  • Ensure global resources are effectively coordinated and mobilized to drive deal closures and referenceable project success stories.

 

Portfolio (offering and pricing):

  • Provide inputs to the development strategy, M&A, Services offering and 3rd party solutions offering, and influence global GTM strategies.
  • Help translate market trends/insights and customer needs into industry/ LoB relevant solutions.
  • Develop and articulate a clear vision for SAP's growth and how the Solutions support that growth.
  • Develop creative and distinctive strategies to achieve competitive advantage across customer segments and solutions area.
  • Provide executive collaboration for internal solution development and customer business case requirements.
  • Establish and influence SAPs overall leadership position in Retail.

 

Field Enablement: Provide and assemble industry / LoB relevant content and thought leadership, Develop solution value propositions, customer references, and training curriculum / Value University content.

Pipeline Generation: Support license and services pipeline, marketing campaigns, large deal support, and executive relationships. Develop strong, credible relationships between regional and global organizations to improve competitive differentiation of solutions. Ensure alignment between COE and regional business plans. Identify and leverage best practice pipeline growth activities (business planning, development, execution and measurement) cross sector and solutions areas.

Eco-system Strategy and partner alignment: Identify and engage partners by industry / LoB / region and drive adoption of SAP as a platform (HANA, mobility, Cloud, etc.). Develop go to market plans and joint development activities in key solution areas to driver overall industry differentiation in the market. Customer Co-innovation: Engage with strategic and focus accounts to drive solution adoption, develop new products, and deliver customer references and success stories.

Industry Analysts: Drive thought leadership and evangelize the SAP industry differentiation within te analyst community. Act as a role model and spokesperson for SAP inside and outside the organization.

 

Education/ Skills & Competencies

  • Thorough understanding of the Retail industry, key trends and opportunities, competitive landscape
  • Track record of exceeding ambitious revenue and profitability targets
  • Strong bias / motivation towards significant growth (above market)
  • Strong customer centricity (time invested, quality achieved, differentiation with competitors, references, etc)
  • Business development & sales skills in both new markets and mature / established markets preferred
  • Ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels
  • International experience; understanding of the varied business and cultural environments around the globe
  • Highly motivated by the opportunity to identify critical trends, technology innovations and partnerships and to combine them with existing solution capabilities to create new markets and opportunities
  • Regional as well as global GTM activities – connecting with local field colleagues to understand enablement requirements, QBR asks, and designing specific deliverables to support regional pipeline build and revenue growth in the regions
  • Designing Social Media activities to support our global retail programs – blogs, twitter, social engagement
  • Solution Ownership Activities – working as a JR member across a key solution and innovation – updating one stop shops, developing marketing assets, etc.
  • Design & Roadmap Paper for the intelligent Enterprise
  • Use case development in areas of digital transformation
  • Fluent in English; German language skills would be of advantag
  • Excellent communication skills (internal and external)
