The Head of the North America Revenue Recognition Center of Excellence (CoE) is responsible for Revenue Recognition functions in North America.  This position requires a dynamic individual with the ability to partner with the North America Customer Success organization, the Corporate Financial Reporting (CFR) organization, and the Commercial Finance team members to ensure the cloud, on prem and professional services agreements are accounted for properly in accordance with IFRS.   


This individual will be expected to fulfill the following duties:

  • Manage and lead the North America Revenue Recognition CoE team members
  • Opine on complex revenue recognition matters and critical transactions, proactively proposing alternate, preferable, or simpler setups or structures.
  • Own the Revenue Recognition related quarter end close & SOX control activities and engage with senior GFA executives to report results
    • Lead the engagement with SAP’s external auditors during their quarterly reviews and annual audit procedures.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Financial Reporting regarding challenging deal structures and new Revenue Recognition policies and guidelines
  • Lead Revenue Recognition enablement efforts for North America Commercial Finance team and Sales
  • Develop and maintain Revenue Recognition training tools
  • Lead and participate in key global programs and projects related to revenue recognition or deal support
  • Partner with the Market Unit Commercial Finance Managers, Revenue Recognition & Pricing experts to support complex/strategic deals
  • Drive the deal support roll out and enablement of new business initiatives ensuring that the GCF NA is equipped to support said offerings.




The North America GCF organization partners closely with sales to ensure that transactions are structured in the most commercially beneficial way for SAP, while abiding by SAPs internal policies and IFRS Accounting rules.




A strong candidate for this position will possess the following skills and/or qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS15 / U.S. GAAP on revenue recognition and SAP’s policies and practices
  • CPA and/or Big 4 public accounting experience, highly preferred
  • Inquisitiveness and critical thinking skills
  • Problem solver with confidently affirmative attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to deliver messages with competence, confidence, and composure
  • Ability to work under time pressure and deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks and projects
  • Team player and self-starter
  • Self-motivated, with an innate ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing business environment
  • Committed to deliver high quality results under pressure and against tight deadlines
