Contract Duration: 6 months
Contract Hours: 40 hours/week but flexible based on school hours

Purpose & Objective of Position

Business Management is part of the Marketing and Communications Business Services and Culture function.  Business Management delivers core business services to the Marketing and Communications Functions, Regions and Line of Business Go-to-Market Priorities.  Each Business Management team (BMO) is responsible for helping their key stakeholder plan, execute, analyze and optimize their business. 

This role will be responsible for supporting the Marketing Business Planning & Budgeting process including:

  • Ensuring business plans and initiatives are appropriately funded and have sufficient resources to attain revenue-achievement and market-awareness goals.
  • Executing spend management & forecasting
  • Supporting executive reviews and insights
  • Use of foundational systems and tools
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Expectations & Tasks

More specifically, this role will support the following priorities and tasks:

  • Budget-planning process; resource allocation (including programs, technology investments, and headcount) to align activities with corporate and marketing objectives and improve cost effectiveness
  • Spend Management - budget allocation, approval process, set up tracking codes aligned to cost centers, SOW submissions, adherence to procurement policies and travel oversight
  • Forecast support - monitor invoices for status (accruals). Forecast travel and program spend.  Monitor HC Changes
  • Identify areas of improvement and work with procurement to develop strategic approach
  • Projects and analyses to evaluate marketing performance and recommend potential new models and approaches to evaluate marketing performance and ROI
  • Work within Marketing Planning Tool (MPT) evaluating/measuring compliance, effectiveness and efficiency of entered business plans and budgets
  • Assist in the development and documentation of the 2019 Marketing & Budget operational guidance via Microsoft SharePoint

Skills / Competencies

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Tools including Power Point, Excel (including Analytics for Office AfO), Word, SharePoint and Teams
  • Business planning and budget management as it relates to business strategy, sales or marketing function
  • Analysis including benchmarks of internal and external performance; key performance metrics and applicability of benchmarks, investment and budget allocation, resource effectiveness, cost of return, and ROI
  • Change management and the value of change within the bigger picture of the organization
  • Communication and project management skills

Educational Requirements

  • Previous internship experience and MBA candidate a plus
  • Basic Finance e.g. understanding what a P&L is, accrual basis accounting, purchase orders
