The Solution Advisory Senior Specialist possesses advanced/expert level knowledge of SAP and partner software solutions, specifically with Supply Chain Manufacturing Planning processes and solutions. This would include an understanding of business processes and experience in areas such as Production Planning, Materials Requirements Planning, Detailed Manufacturing Production Scheduling, Production Resource optimization etc.   Additionally, an understanding of other planning processes such as Demand Driven Materials Requirements Planning, Demand Planning, Supply Planning and Sales and Operations Planning would be highly regarded.  Experience with other enterprise level ERP software solutions is also beneficial

 

Solution Advisory Specialist participates in sales cycles as a member of the virtual account team in support of the sales account strategy.  This person will ideally reside in the Northeast (e.g. MA, PA, MD, NY, NJ, CT etc) but will consider candidates from any location in Continental US.  Currently the majority of work is remote due to COVID restrictions, but traditionally expected travel was be between 50-70%.

 

A Solution Advisory Specialist interacts with prospective customers through executive meetings, discovery conversations, solution demonstrations, executive presentations, and follow-up discussions. The Primary role of the Solution Advisory Specialist during an active sales cycle is to gain acceptance from the customer that SAP solution can solve the customer’s problem and is the right choice over the other competitive offerings. During these cycles they often take on the role of a Solution Captain to lead the demonstration activities in preparation and delivery. In addition to deal support, a Solution Advisory Specialist collaborates with sales and the Industry Value Advisor teams to plan and execute business development strategies using Design Thinking tools and techniques.  Overall responsibilities include:

 

Deal Support: Compose and deliver superior sales presentations covering SAP and partner software solutions to prospective customer audiences.  The presentations and demonstrations must articulate the sales message, differentiate SAP, highlight the value to the customer’s business and leave a memorable, strong, and positive impression to audiences.  Conduct discovery sessions with prospective customers in advance of a demonstration or key presentation to build relationships with the customer and understand their unique needs.  Demonstrate deep knowledge of SAP solutions and appropriate industries to maintain credibility with prospective customers through proof points with relevant customer stories.  Support RFx completion in support of customer proposals.  Provide leadership as a Solution Captain on deals with complex solutions and large demonstration teams.

 

Demand Generation: Support one-to-many sales and marketing events both on-site and remotely.  Lead & support Design Thinking workshops to promote new and innovative solutions for customers and prospects.  Collaborate with the sales team to identify whitespace opportunities at accounts.

 

Sales and Solution Advisory Readiness: Develop close relationships with SAP sales teams to promote effective sales methodologies.  Participate in demo system design and planning and assist in configuration as needed. Participate in new product release input and testing and training of peers.  Serve as a champion for or participate as a leader in Solution Hubs and provide knowledge transfer to colleagues as needed.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE: • 5+ years of presales experience or similar experience in industry as a Production Planner or Supply Chain Planner  • 3 -5 years of solution specialist (or equivalent customer facing) experience in areas appropriate to the job • Demonstrates 3-5  years of successful engagements leading small teams on small-mid-sized deals • Expert knowledge/expertise on end to end processes/solution matching • Experience in sales and sales processes • Excellent presentation and communication skills English: proficient    • Expert supply chain business processes and business language knowledge • Functional knowledge of SAP PP, PP-PI, MPS/MRP, aATP or similar enterprise planning solutions is required • Functional knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Materials Management (MM). Inventory Management (IM) or Extended Planning (DDMRP) is beneficial • Experience with Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Chemicals or Consumer Products industries is also beneficial.
