SAP Australia & New Zealand’s Digital Transformation Office is currently looking for a Technical Engagement Lead in our Innovation Architect team. The successful candidate has a history in presales/solutions architect working with S/4HANA, Cloud Platform, Database and Intelligent technologies, and has the understanding and the skill to partner with our clients to assess and understand the value-add of our solutions in any organization. The candidate will be an active participant in the software sales cycle at SAP as a member of the account team. Primary focus of the role is to work as an integral member of the sales team to drive revenue through deal support, demand generation and proof of concept engagements. In that role, the Innovation Architect will prototype, demonstrate and articulate the value of SAP technology as the digital transformation platform for our strategic customers and key opportunities. The ideal candidate passionate about today’s technology, understands current and future technology trends and has a very firm grasp of cloud integration, security and architecture concepts.


Responsibilities of the Innovation Architect include active participation in any of the following:

  • Customer sales cycles, strategy sessions, value based product presentations or demonstrations, coordination and conducting Proof of Concept’s or Technical Hands-On sessions, and mentoring. The candidate should be an evangelist and knowledge multiplier, with great presenting- and communication skills and experienced in presenting to a CxO audience.
  • Ensure delivery of simple, appealing, and compelling use cases of technology. Ability to present SAP's product and solutions strategy relevant integration to relevant SAP applications, align it with the IT strategy of the prospective customer and map in the business context, business processes and required user experience of the prospect.
  • Reinforce the business value of SAP solutions through discovery, demonstrations and participation in proof of concept engagements.
  • Ability to build a strong working relationship with both the prospect, partners and the SAP Virtual Account Team. Excellent strategic  communication skills including the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate and influence across all management and organizational levels both internally and externally.
  • Conduct discovery and scoping sessions with representatives from the prospective customer. A discovery session is an interview to identify and understand key pain points which will determine the value drivers and solution enablers for the presentation.



  • Stay up to date with SAP technology solutions and strategy as well as industry trends.
  • Provide limited post-sale support to key customers primarily to the project/implementation team to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Able to lead as a Solution Captain when deals require complex solutions and require multiple participants to support a successful customer presentation or demo.
  • Ability to interact with C-level audience and present at large events
  • Ability to quickly learn new product and business concepts.
  • Communicate the business requirements to the project/implementation team after completion of sales to ensure a smooth transition from presales to implementation stages, warranting a continuous degree of customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and execute POC (Proof of concept) for assigned solutions in collaboration with other team members or regional groups. Breaking barriers and bottlenecks throughout POC engagement.
  • Support demand generation activities established by marketing or presales for solutions under responsibility.
  • Work with sales managers and Solution Experts to establish specific account plans andstrategies around technology.
  • Create and deliver technical presentations and assist other solution experts in technical due diligence.
  • Document, maintain and communicate technology related sales collateral based on regional content.
  • Responsible for transferring knowledge of technology related topics to internal teams and partners.
  • Support RFx completion in support of customer proposals.
  • Configure applications (prototypes) to meet customer needs



  • The ideal candidate must present a mix of capabilities. The candidate should:
  • Have a background in software engineering and have worked on development or consulting projects with latest intelligent technologies, such as Cloud Platform, Machine Learning, AI, Robotics Process Automation, Data and many more.
  • Be up-to-date on technology trends and possess a sound technical understanding.
  • Have experience in more than one language and have experience in many of the following tools / technologies: SAP Build, JavaScript, HTML coding, Java/Python, etc.
  • Possess experience leading and coordinating technical projects for customers. The candidate must have experience with getting projects started, resolving bottlenecks at the start and throughout the projects and be masterful with communicating updates and risks to customer stakeholders.
  • Possess good listening skills and a certain level of business acumen to be able to step in the shoes of our customers, discover business opportunities and problems and see how technology can be applied to create human meaning and value.
  • Possess a general understanding of SAP’s strategy and organization and of the IT industry and be curious and a fast learner. The candidate should be keen to learn new skills and open-minded. Her/his curiosity goes hand in hand with a natural creativity and an ability to come up with and test innovative ideas.
  • Have a record of taking initiative (self-started) and driving tangible results. The candidate should be proactive and hands-on, solution-oriented with strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Work well in a fast-paced and dynamic matrix organization. The candidate is able to deliver high quality results on time. The candidate must be able to prioritize as well as pay attention to details.
  • Excellent communication skills on all levels.
  • Experience developing and presenting clear and concise product briefings.
  • Keen decision making skills, with the ability to think creatively and on your feet.



  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science
  • Agile Project Management: Understand and apply modern project management methodologies like scrum to support a flexible and agile development process. Establish effective best practices for all development projects based on an empiric, incremental and iterative approach. Ability to understand and manage all project stakeholders and work as one team together.
  • Stakeholder Care: Maintain close connection to all parts of the community, especially customers, solution and product owners, development, quality team and support.
  • Lead the implementation of strategic customers or internal proof of concepts.
  • Product and Domain Knowledge: You are expected to quickly learn and absorb the developer’s context, our product and the process framework and apply this to each key project & task you work on. Domain knowledge in Cloud Platform, DDM, Analytics, Intelligent Technologies and S/4HANA is a key prerequisite to successfully work together with all internal and external stakeholders. Providing input into the priority and impact of technical architectures and issues and provide feedback on plans to address them. You are the thoughtful trusted voice inside SAP Innovation Office team for the designated accounts you work with.
  • Must have excellent communication and collaboration with team-members, customers and senior level management team.
  • Strong project management skills including activities like status updates, actions tracking, recourse planning, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP HANA and SAP Analytics products incl. troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Coordination support for important customer issues (investigating, providing workarounds) for complex and cross-component issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with rapid pace of change and multiple projects – and to stay organized and on top of the details.
  • Ability to understand the customer perspective and transmit it to others.
  • Knowledge on programming languages such as Javascript, Java, or C++ is a plus.



  • More than 5 years of experience in leading projects and/or customer collaborations.
  • Experience as a Technical Engineering/Enterprise
