About the Role
As a Principal Development Architect, you will be working on advancing SuccessFactors' microservices and API strategy, in close collaboration with the architect community and engineering teams. The scope of work includes but not limited to Microservices strategy, feature toggles, build pipelines, service to service communications, API standards and tools. You will be the public face of Service Architecture within the organization in defining, evangelizing, and building general confidence around both Service strategies and technologies, with a specific focus and charter towards creating a paved path that both increases quality, velocity, confidence, and developer satisfaction, while reducing overall cost, and friction.
Responsibilities:
- Define the microservices strategy by applying domain model design methodology,
- Define API strategy and standards for all teams to adopt in a consistency way
- Lead a working group of architects and SMEs and collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, and quality teams to execute the microservices transformation
- Prioritize the backlog for architectural works around the APIs and make sure the working groups can focus on the right priorities
- Document and present methodologies and architectural documents to the architecture community
- Contribute and maintain strategic alignment on technology strategy and priorities with CTO leadership team and SAP's Cross Product Architecture (CPA)
- Be the public face of Services and APIs by championing modern application architecture and technology excellence
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in developing high volume SaaS based applications in Java, Spring, REST, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes and other technologies
- 5+ years of experience as an Architect with a proven track record of designing large scale, distributed, highly available, fault tolerant applications using microservices architecture and focus on great quality APIs
- Experience in design, architect and develop applications in cloud platform solutions such as Azure or GCP
- Experience in Agile SDLC methodologies and DevOps
- Experience in application modernization and transformation will be a plus
- Focused, responsible individual who enjoys working on a team and thrives under pressure
- Strong presence and excellent communication skills with technical focus
