POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Highly technical, influential individual to help fuel our continued growth in the Cloud Business Group. The Cloud Business Group (CBG) is composed of business cloud applications SAP Concur, SAP Ariba, SAP Fieldglass, SAP Customer Experience, and SAP SuccessFactors. This key executive will spearhead the company’s long-term technology vision, be responsible for SAP’s cloud platform and advanced technology incubations, and drive key cloud technology topics such as multi-tenancy, scalability, security, user interface, and open ecosystem across all of the company’s solutions. The successful candidate will possess an outstanding track record of success in building, deploying and managing cloud services at scale. He/she will have familiarity with the unique issues related to building cloud infrastructure and services in support of the great consumer experiences from multi-platform user interfaces to scalable cloud services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive key innovations – differentiating us from competition
  • Establish architecture for end-to-end systems, implementation and client-side integrations
  • Identify and implement best practices and coding standards
  • Assess, review and ensure excellent design, usability and code quality
  • Understand client system architectures and design solutions to integrate products within their enterprise
  • Up to date with latest technology frameworks and know how to utilize them in product development
  • Work with the Sales, Marketing and Executive team to help shape the Cloud Business Group Engineering direction

KEY PRIORITIES

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure high degree of alignment, ruthless prioritization, timely releases of products and services in support of critical company initiatives, and making sure team is focused on “innovation that matters”
  • Work as an effective executive across the organization
  • Ensure scalable development, testing, and deployment process to maintain and improve Cloud Services reliability, scalability, cost and performance

COMPETENCIES

  • Technical Competence: The successful candidate will be well versed in Cloud architecture and technology, proven record of building scalable services using public cloud infrastructure as well as mobile and web development
  • Results Orientation: This will be demonstrated by the success achieved in leading and managing an engineering team to release consumer products to millions of users. He/she will have clearly proven the ability to build and ship high-quality products/platforms within a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment and under the normal financial and organizational constraints of a fast growth technology company.
  • Collaboration and Influencing: Given that this role is a critical engineering leadership role, the successful candidate will have demonstrated a remarkable ability to influence leaders in product management, marketing, sales and strategy in order to ensure alignment on the priorities of the engineering team and to facilitate a proactive dialogue with the company’s leadership team on the possibilities and constraints of the business.
  • Strategic Orientation: The successful candidate will have demonstrated, in recent senior roles, strong facility with following and synthesizing strategic trends in their industry, and altering course as required to ensure that engineering enables the company to capitalize on those trends.

  • Executive presence and gravitas with demonstrated ability to influence product direction and vision in matrixed environments.
  • Proven experience of close partnership with International GTM teams
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with top executives internally, client companies, competitors, and key industry thought leader
