SAP’s Global Licensing organization is responsible for partnering with third parties to acquire rights to use and integrate third-party IP (software, web/cloud services, content etc.) into SAP products and solutions in accordance with SAP product licensing standards, managing the lifecycle of third-party agreements, ensuring compliance of third-party IP with third party requirements, and approving third-party IP usage in SAP products and solutions per negotiated terms.


We work in close cooperation with SAP development and product lines of business, legal, global support, controlling, partner organizations, field areas, etc.


In short, we help to expedite and enable amazing SAP products and services.



The Global Licensing Senior Specialist will work on cross-functional, operations topics to help enable Global Licensing to accomplish its goals and objectives in the areas of data management, cloud compliance, third party commercialization, partnering, product standards, and special projects.


This role will report to the Head of Business Operations, Global Licensing.



Specific tasks may include working on the following:

  • Lead data management initiatives, including improving data review, analysis, storage and use processes; managing data and knowledge resources such as Global Licensing wikis, SharePoint, etc.; creation of a data hub for knowledge share.
  • Review, analyze and improve licensing negotiations process, including required collaborations and inputs/approvals from internal stakeholders (e.g. Legal for deviations from SAP contract language).
  • Analyze, define and create improvements in general licensing processes to drive efficiencies, including management and updating of contract templates in collaboration with SAP stakeholders (e.g. Security, DPPO, Legal, etc.) and the creation of negotiation playbooks.
  • Review, improve and define mergers and acquisitions post-merger integration, partnering and compliance processes, as well as divestitures.
  • Perform SAP product validations (approve use of third-party IP) in accordance with SAP product licensing standards.
  • Check compliance with product standards and provide approvals.
  • Analyze & assist with rules & processes for new business models around licensing.
  • Assist with data quality improvement projects in the effort to achieve cloud compliance.
  • Assist with providing training and rollout materials.
  • Answer requests and be point of contact regarding licensing topics.
  • Contribute to global standardization and improvements of Global Licensing processes.
  • Lead and execute special ad-hoc projects.



Desired skills and characteristics

  • Project management experience.
  • An understanding of product development process.
  • Extensive understanding of licensing, contracts, compliance and risk assessment.
  • Experience with finance topics would be a big plus.
  • High service attitude, while making no compromises on compliance.
  • Ability to think proactively and create pragmatic solutions.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • High level of ownership, responsibility, motivation, and drive.
  • Be a flexible team player able and willing to deal with transition and change.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to take over and lead projects and project teams as requested.
  • Open to new topics and assignments.
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.



  • 6-8+ years’ experience.
