Finance Specialist - Export Compliance

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

 

SAP Export Control is a central function that is responsible for ensuring SAP’s compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations, including trade sanctions. This team further supports the company in analyzing and meeting export control and sanctions related market requirements and in dealing with customers, partners, authorities and policy makers worldwide.
 
We are a global team with two core functions, operations and legal. We closely interact with global and local functions in the areas of legal and compliance, security, data protection, product development, logistics and other operations functions. We aim for compliant software and service delivery. For example: Based on technical characteristics and functionalities, SAP products must be classified for export under EU, German and U.S. laws and regulations. 

The Export Control Operations Team is looking for an Export Control Senior Specialist. This hands-on person enables SAP functions to determine whether a proposed export is permitted under applicable export control laws and whether it is subject to an export license requirement. At the same time, we offer you to:

The Export Control Operations team has members in the Philippines, India, Russia, Germany, Ireland and the United States of America. 

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

  • Execute SAP’s export compliance processes, such as business partner screening, sanctioned party list screening, business partner classification
  • Perform embargo checks, handle export and import authorizations, and conduct product classification based on German, EU and US law
  • Realize a close interaction with business partners and act as a trusted business partner on Export Control matters with a strong focus on compliance service delivery, e.g. for sales, finance, development, technology, and delivery units
  • Applying excellent communication style according to internal and external stakeholders and situations
  • Drive for continuous improvement of existing processes and tools in use, policies, guidelines
  • Keep process documentation up to date and actively contribute to roll-out and knowledge transfer activities
  • Contribute to project work, for example be actively engaged in testing

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor/ master’s degree in business administration, foreign trade, international business, and information systems engineering, computer science, software development or equivalent similar education
  • Affinity to legal and technology challenges
  • Knowledge of import and export laws and applicable regulations preferred
  • Engineering background and knowledge preferred
  • Willingness to work in a compliance function and being engaged in financial closing activities
  • Strong team player, experienced in working with virtual and international teams
  • Highly motivated, can-do attitude and result oriented
  • Agile experience and mindset.
  • Proven analytical, communication and writing skills
  • High quality awareness and process-oriented thinking and acting
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor and closely collaborate across organizations, teams and cultures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex issues in layman terms
  • Fluent Business English is a must, Spanish is a plus

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years’ international work experience; experience in high-tech industry is a plus
  • Working experience in compliance functions
  • Experience in export control / foreign trade environment topics and systems such as SAP ERP, CRM, BPS
  • Engineering or a technical background is a plus
