TripIt is looking for Platform Development Engineer to help build next-generation microservices and API’s using cloud-first concepts and technologies including containerization, serverless architecture, and increased use of native AWS tools and services and best practices. You are organized, positive, creative, and focused on the user always. In this position, you will work on the core platform of TripIt, developing features for the web application and for internal and external client APIs. You must be passionate about working with new technologies and solving difficult technical problems. Most importantly, you should not be afraid to dive into new and unfamiliar technologies



  • Implement new features and optimize existing ones from database schema to controller-level to UI.
  • Write, own and evangelize automated testing of developed code.
  • Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from product management, interaction designers, and other engineering teams (platform, mobile, quality).
  • Pro-actively identify ways to make TripIt more robust, scalable, and user-friendly.
  • Help the Platform team end to end, delivering distributed systems using AWS native services and best practices such as infrastructure as code, zero-downtime production deployments, frequent deployments, and be responsible for their services.
  • Work with fellow Platform engineers and suggest innovations and improvements to infrastructure, architecture, and process. 


  • Bachelor's/Master’s Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required. 
  • Good professional software engineering experience and experience managing product and services’ runtime in production.
  • Strong understanding of web-related technologies (experience developing consumer web applications preferred).
  • Experience with server-side web frameworks (Python/Django or PHP/Symfony preferred)
  • Experience with client-side application development in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience with LESS or Sass a plus.
  • Knowledge of one or more relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, or Aurora) and familiarity with one or more NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, compliance, open-source technologies, frameworks, and a broad array AWS tools and services.
  • Experience using Docker containers, Continuous Delivery and deploying on cloud infrastructure (e.g., CloudFormation on AWS) is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with common security tools and compliance standards that impact software development and runtime reliability.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication with ability to explain complex technical concepts with ease across an organization.
  • Experience in Travel Technology or consumer facing apps is a huge plus.
