COMPANY DESCRIPTION

SAP started in 1972 as a team of five colleagues with a desire to do something new. Together, they changed enterprise software and reinvented how business was done. Today, as a market leader in enterprise application software, we remain true to our roots. That’s why we engineer solutions to fuel innovation, foster equality and spread opportunity for our employees and customers across borders and cultures.
SAP values the entrepreneurial spirit, fostering creativity and building lasting relationships with our employees. We know that a diverse and inclusive workforce keeps us competitive and provides opportunities for all. We believe that together we can transform industries, grow economics, lift up societies and sustain our environment. Because it’s the best-run businesses that make the world run better and improve people’s lives.

Acquired by SAP Concur in 2011, TripIt is a part of SAP Concur’s Consumer Travel group, based in San Francisco, CA. We offer the best of both worlds: a start-up-like culture and independence, with the backing, infrastructure, and connections of the world’s largest provider of enterprise application software and a leader in cloud solutions.

Our TripIt team is dynamic, passionate, and diverse.  Our team’s vision is to make every trip easier, for every frequent business traveler -- across a traveler’s entire journey.  TripIt reduces stress for travelers by helping them stay organized and one step ahead, so they can make the most out of all their trips.

We have built a service unlike any that have come before it, and we're proud of what we've accomplished so far, but we're driven to take TripIt to the next level.

We value an open, trusting, collaborative, and fun culture, allowing all of us to focus on getting stuff done quickly and to the highest of standards.

We’re looking for an experienced product manager to help lead and build out our core features and drive integrations both with partners and our internal ecosystem of apps. You will be the product owner of a cross-functional team delivering enhancements across mobile and web, collaborating with highly skilled, motivated designers and developers.

You are organized, positive, creative, analytical, and focused on the customer at all times. You know when to make decisions and when to ask questions.  Above all, you love to build great software. This is an execution-focused role: You will help drive the roadmap and get your hands dirty the entire way.

This product manager reports to the director of product management in San Francisco.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and prioritize architectural enhancements and new feature ideas. You know how to think critically and make tough choices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, UX, marketing, support, and other teams across the company to plan, develop, and launch the right enhancements – then iterate.
  • Keep an eye on the big picture while focusing your team on the steps to get there, with effective, clear user stories and a deep backlog.
  • Know our customers and represent them in every conversation, every decision you make.
  • Watch the data: Develop key metrics and a plan to achieve them, analyze, assess, adjust, repeat.
  • Work closely with marketing, support, analysts, and other delivery teams to understand needs across the business and incorporate them into your product decisions.
  • Recommend improvements large and small based on ongoing customer research, feedback, performance, and competitive analysis.
  • Contribute to product roadmap planning, translating business objectives into a clear strategies & initiatives.

Key Job Requirements

  • 7+ years experience as a product manager or equivalent.
  • Strong experience working on complex, full-stack projects, including consumer applications and mobile. You're used to driving projects from concept through launch and beyond.

  • Ability to write clear, concise specs and user stories. We like documentation. Just enough of it.
  • Willingness to work on both user-facing features and behind-the-scenes platform enhancements — maybe even at the same time.
  • A passion for user experience, with strong instincts around UI and design.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. You'll own your projects from end to end.
  • Remarkable leadership and communication skills. You should be comfortable representing your team and championing your projects across the organization and in front of senior leadership, partners, and customers.
  • Willingness to work directly with remote teams.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
