Location:  San Ramon, CA

Purpose and Objective:  SAP Labs, LLC. seeks a Development Expert at our San Ramon, CA location to manage projects or resources or expertise ensuring business critical & innovative results / build strategic partnerships with customers/partners.

Expectations and Tasks:

Support projects of high risks/complexity; Day to day decisions for a team; Complex business issues. Communicate clear and conveying processes & policies in a way that others can understand. Advocate end user by having a deep understanding of end user needs, behaviors and usage patterns. Promote the role of User Experience, thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies & practices and ability to integrate those into current and future development efforts. Execute technical feasibility studies / solution reviews. Define / review technical blueprint for internal IT projects. Customize and develop enhancements. Implement solutions and provide technical documentation. Execute and support problem management and continuous improvement. Participate in de-escalation activities. Contribute to the Build to Run engagement and contribute to the definition of technical standards and frameworks. 10% travel required.

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field of study and 7 years of experience required.  The company will also accept a Master's degree and 5 years of experience.

Work Experience:

  • Experience must involve 5 years in the following: Hands-on experience with internal design and implementation of Column-store databases; Database Performance – Expertise in debugging and improving Query & Ingest performance for very large databases (BigData); Specialties in Database features: Query processing, DB Statistics, Prefetch manager, System Replication, Backup & Restore, Scaleout; Product specific architecture and design knowledge of multiple databases – SAP HANA, SAP IQ, SAP ASE; Architecture and design of Federated database system – SAP HANA DT, SAP HANA SDA; SAP HANA DB tools – HANA planviz, HANA Cockpit, HANA Studio; System performance & Debugging tools – Vtune, valgrind, GDB; Programming languages – C++, Python, Java, Linux scripting; and Knowledge of Industry Standard Database benchmarks like TPCH, TPCC, TPCDS. 10% travel required.
