SAP's Global Corporate Affairs (GCA) unit is charged with protecting and enhancing the reputation of SAP both with internal and external audiences, shaping public opinion and directly as well as indirectly engaging with communities, customers and prospects, the ecosystem, governments and policy makers as well as current and future talent. The teams develop strategic messaging, participate in vital dialogue and create content and programs relevant to their audiences.   • indirectly via influencers such as media (print, online, broadcast), bloggers, industry analysts
  • and directly with employees, managers, and government representatives.


The Senior Communications Manager - APJ Mid-Market & Partner is responsible for planning and driving the execution of communications activities for Mid-Market & Partner business to these multiple audiences. 



The Expert in this function ….

  • Is part of a regional team spanning APJ, comprising ANZ, India, Japan, Korea, and SEA
  • Is responsible for programs and channels for Mid-Market & Partner business across the region; and for special projects within GCA community
  • Is a business partner and a trusted advisor for his/her stakeholders
  • Supports media relations (pitching SAP story, building intimacy with a strong journalists and bloggers network, managing a press agency)
  • Supports executive communications for the Mid-Market & Partner business leaders, preparing talking points and briefing books for media engagement, driving social media for leadership program, and selectively providing content for external or internal keynotes. 
  • Is a good steward of allocated budget
  • Works closely with team members and sister-organizations (marketing, government relations, CSR) to support cross-regional and corporate activities and topics.



Media relations:

  • Create thought leadership strategy for awareness of Mid-Market & Partner in the media, ensuring the overarching SAP priorities are adhered to, to deliver a strong rolling volume of media coverage and message penetration.
  • Develop a media relations strategy that demonstrates and showcases how SAP delivers the intelligent enterprise and helps its customers to become best-run businesses
  • Build and strengthen a network of regional/national media contacts 
  • Support in developing a story pipeline that strengthens SAP’s public profile about business strategy, innovation and supports the Brand Narrative.
  • Build strong collaboration with Marketing to leverage and amplify the best SAP customer stories
  • Engage and manage external agencies, providing clear direction and focus to ensure alignment to global and local messages and ensure message and media training for industry and product spokespeople



  • Ensure crises are managed, coordinated and escalated to region and Global Communications leaders where necessary



  • Experience in media relations strategy and media relations
  • Experience in design and implementation of communications concepts and plans
  • Experience in communications to more than one influencer type (media, bloggers, analyst, governments officials, employee communications)
  • Experience in story-telling and copy-writing
  • Experienced in handling confidential material
  • Experience in providing communications counsel to executives



  • You have excellent English writing and editing skills
  • College and/or University Degree desired (or equivalent education)
  • Professional communicator
  • Self-motivated and team oriented
  • Flexible and able to cope with stress
  • Understanding of IT market, editorial experience a big plus
  • Ability to transform corporate strategy into powerful messages for various communications disciplines
