What you’ll do

 

Gardener team is adopting the Kubernetes open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized SAP solutions and business applications. Evolving and enhancing the open-source project Gardener as SAP’s way to provide a homogeneous and universal Kubernetes-based container management is the key deliverable of this team, in close collaboration with the teams in other SAP locations. Project Gardener is providing solutions to run and orchestrate Kubernetes clusters on public cloud, hybrid or SAP-owned infrastructures for a variety of enterprise use cases.

Working in our technically skilled team located in Sofia means designing, developing, and running a Kubernetes cloud service used by numerous SAP solutions. As a development architect, you will:

  • Be responsible for the aligned and consistent architecture of Gardener, write Gardener Enhancement Proposals for a highly performant, highly available, and secure Kubernetes cloud service at a massive scale, present and openly discuss your ideas with colleagues
  • Influence technology standards, guidelines & principles in CNCF and cloud-native domain, engage in Kubernetes SIG
  • Understand, follow, and drive for the fulfillment of the SAP Global Security requirements and the different security compliance programs
  • Be a trusted advisor to engineering and product management
  • Create a leading brand by speaking at internal & external events and architect community forums
  • Develop and contribute to the project together with the team

 

What you bring

 

  • University education in computer science, software engineering, or similar
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Kubernetes, have passed or is willing to pass  CKAD/ CKA programs
  • Good experience with Go
  • Experience with Linux
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Good understanding and experience with DevOps practices
  • Curiosity and track record for quickly learning new technologies, concepts, and tools

 

Preferred Skills

 

  • Expertise in Security domain: compliance, protocols and standards, threat modeling and implementation of security measures
  • Kubernetes network model, experience with any of the following is a plus: Ingress, Calico, Cilium, Istio, EnvoyVPN Tunnelling
  • Cloud-Native technologies – anything among these
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms & their Kubernetes offerings like Amazon Web Services & EKS, Microsoft Azure & AKS, Google Cloud Platform & GKE

 

Alternative profiles – based on the skills you bring along and your own preferences we may also offer you a Developer Expert role with a stronger focus on Development with Go for Kubernetes.
