Key Responsibilities & Tasks

The SAP Industry & Value Advisory (IVA) organization is chartered with differentiating SAP as the innovation partner of choice by making the Intelligent Enterprise value and experience real for every customer. The Industry Advisory job family is part of IVA but sits within each region and supports the regional industry business to grow sales pipeline and engage with our customers to secure revenue. This job focuses on adopting standardized approaches for value-based sales activities in focus industries and related solutions from SAP and partners. Industry Advisory supports the development of pipeline build strategies and scale initiatives resulting in increased industry pipeline, revenue, and elevation of SAP’s leadership position in an industry segment in partnership with regional sales and the Virtual Account Team.

As a people manager, Industry Advisor Manager is responsible for supporting the success of direct reports and the success of all employees within the larger team by helping to identify development opportunities and supporting team members to achieve their goals. You are expected to know about the members of your extended team and share insights with your peer managers. On board and nurture talent to meet business needs. Look for opportunities to coach and recognize employees directly and provide just-in-time feedback so that employees can reflect on your input immediately. Lead teams and build an environment where team members are encouraged to take risk, grow and help customers meet their business objectives. Build leadership trust by providing clear and actionable feedback to team members and help them reach their maximum potential Lead a team of Industry Advisors that aligns Industries and Solutions in order to build pipeline and enable sales execution efforts on a regional and or global basis. Understands industry segment priorities and addressable market opportunities. Manages and monitors the implementation of industry business strategies, objectives, and scalable governance models to successfully achieve targeted industry segment revenue, margin, and market share goals. Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with key industry segment decision- makers internally and in partner and customer organizations. Manages industry expertise ensuring business critical & innovative results. Responsible for delivery of outcomes. Directs the implementation and execution of industry segment functional business plans integrating functional and financial objectives. Represents SAP externally on specific industry segment subject matters. All areas below align to SAP’s strategy and the IVA vision. Strategy - Industry & GTM Planning > Accountable for the development of Industry business plan aligned with Sales leadership and Industry Business Unit > Accountable to Enable/Industrialize Sales, Marketing, Inside Sales and the broader Virtual Account Teams > Coach teams on SAP Partners engagements Demand Generation > Guide virtual account teams on the development and delivery of industry relevant account strategies working with sales teams > Coach and engage Marketing to collaborate and execute on Events, Social and Digital plans to develop leads leveraging new content, benchmarking, tools available > Present at industry and customer conferences Business Development / Demand Acceleration > Coach team members on leading early stage customer executive meetings > Provide guidance for industry relevant customer engagements to nurture opportunities Customer Engagement to Deliver Revenue > Engage and work as part of one Virtual Account Team to jointly develop and refine customer deliverables to incorporate industry relevance and SAP differentiated value proposition Insights / Practice Development > Review and guide thought leadership, practice development project for key line of business buying centers in industry > Establish and nurture customer executive relationships to identify and build a pipeline of customer reference stories to showcase value metrics relevant to the Industry

 

Experience & Language Requirements > 10 to 12 years of experience in Solution Management, Pre-Sales (Solution Sales), Sales, Business Consulting and / or Business Development roles with large, multi-national software/technology organization a plus. SAP product application experience and /or relevant industry/solutions experience. Industry/ business experience in one of SAP’s target Industries. Prior experience successfully managing people/teams. Business planning, business case development & operational excellence. Record of building strong customer relationships. Fluency in English, any other language an asset. Fluency in the language of local markets desirable Education > Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required, MBA or equivalent degree required from accredited university preferred.
