(Senior) Cloud Service Developer (m/f/d) for Observability Team in SAP Business Technology Platform

We are looking for (Senior) JAVA cloud developers (f/m/d) to work on innovative global services to observe, understand, and safeguard the availability of SAP Business Technology Platform and all the solutions built on top.


Our development team is responsible for the area of availability monitoring. We develop and operate means to constantly monitor the availability of all kinds of services across SAP, to integrate, aggregate, and enhance observations towards higher-level insights, and to inform relevant stakeholders about issues and historic evolutions. By that, we offer the platform foundation for all other teams developing on top to establish good availability insights for their solutions, services they rely on, and their customers. 


As a Developer (f/m/d) and member of our availability service team, you will develop and operate services that follow cloud-native paradigms. You will get exposure to the newest technologies, get direct touchpoints to customer needs, work collaboratively in a strong team, but also get ways to co-shape the future of our solutions.

You will 

  • develop robust, secure, and maintainable software, e.g., cloud services to support logging, monitoring, tracing, and integrated availability analysis on top of these,
  • take care of proper testing, code reviews, continuous integration, and delivery, 
  • ensure built-in monitoring and automated operations along with DevOps principles. 



What is essential for the role?

  • In the first place? An open mind!
  • A good bachelor or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline
  • Proficiency in state-of-the-art programming languages and concepts, such as Java, node.js, Go, SQL, Python
  • Experience with cloud environments (e.g., Cloud Foundry) and programming models respecting distributed and asynchronous execution, scalability, resilience, and availability needs
  • Good awareness for security aspects in the cloud
  • Experience with state-of-the-art software engineering frameworks and methodologies, e.g., Spring, Spring Boot, test-driven-development, continuous integration, Git, Concourse, Jenkins
  • Fluent English language skills oral and written and good German skills



Our development team is part of the SAP Business Technology Platform. We deliver our solution as a dedicated cloud service within that platform, assuming end-to-end responsible for the whole lifecycle of that service. We work in an agile manner following Scrum methodology.
