What you`ll do
A pacemaker is a medical device which generates electric pulses for maintaining an even heart rate.
A pacemaker can also be a runner who is tasked to maintain a certain speed in a long-distance running event, like a marathon.
Ah, and it's also a cloud native service which is responsible to ensure reliable and consistent task executions in other SAP cloud services, like SAP Datasphere.
Confused? Don't be.. just continue reading!
In a nutshell, the Pacemaker service is a cloud-native service which purpose is to ensure the reliable and stable execution of all kinds of different tasks in other SAP cloud applications, like SAP Datasphere. What might seem trivial on first thought comes with its own unique challenges that need solving. Each day the Pacemaker service guarantees the execution of literally millions of tasks for thousands of SAP customers. This makes Pacemaker a vital component in the SAP cloud ecosystem.
Sounds exciting? Of course it does! So, keep on reading!
We are a small but highly dedicated development team which is implementing the SAP Pacemaker service. The service is written in Typescript and runs on Node.js in a Kubernetes cluster. More precisely, it is delivered as a Kubernetes service in more than 15 data centers all around the globe. In addition to the implementation, our team also takes care of the CI/CD and delivery pipeline, to ensure a smooth deployment into all target clusters, and we monitor the service constantly.
To round things of, we are often front runners for new development principles and infrastructure topics within our development unit.
Life usually does not get boring around here..
