Discovery Support Engineer (f/m/d) for SAP's Global Cloud Services Organization

What you'll do
As part of SAP’s Global Cloud Services organization, this position is responsible for providing Infrastructure Management design and operational support across complex and core infrastructure technologies, with a focus on server automation, security compliance. The individual will be part of a global team responsible for the design and delivery of the global server automation, automated asset discovery and security compliance solutions.


  • Deploying and supporting global discovery tool and strategy to meet business requirements
  • Experience in setting up, running and troubleshooting clustered appliances to detect a variety of devices i.e. Network and Storage devices
  • Proficiency in writing Patterns for BMC Discovery (TPL) beneficial/required
  • Experience in Cloud Discovery
  • Customized Data Export, Consolidation and delivery to internal teams and tools
  • Develop, maintain and improve custom CMDB interfaces
  • Helping to set up, run and troubleshoot our existing Discovery landscapes
  • Script Patterns for BMC Discovery (TPL) to detect custom applications and devices
  • Create, consolidate and deliver customized Data Exports
  • Documenting solution configurations, creating operating run books and training manuals
  • Training staff on day to day operational support activities related to the of the server automation solution
  • Regularly consulting with the IT teams and lines of businesses on server automation solutions
  • Capacity and performance management, short and long-term capacity planning in collaboration with system administrators and system architects

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or comparable job experience in related IT positions
  • Ability to easily develop good working relationships across our organization and the globe.
  • Fluent English and German are mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills and excellent team-player.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and work customer orientated.
  • Strong customer focus and business acumen.
  • Service Management Framework focus on ITIL

Work Experience

  • 2+ years’ work experience in large scale, heterogeneous, 24x7 global IT environments.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of technologies, dependencies and management of complex Linux/Windows server environments
  • Good understanding of server platforms, storage and network discovery
  • Experience supporting BMC Discovery and/or BladeLogic Server Automation 
  • In-depth Scripting experience (Python, Shell, Perl, Powershell etc)
