PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Is the stuff of a hero in you?
P&I Tools, one of SAP's funniest departments, is looking for a new coding hero and you could it be!

P&I Tools is a global product design and development team creating the next generation of product development tools for internal and external customers. We work with a wide range of teams throughout the world, to support enterprise scale innovation.

“In order to create products that deliver great experiences, product developers must have great experiences”. Check out some of our projects on ux-design.rocks

We are looking for a full-stack application developer for our team at SAP in Walldorf, Germany. You will be part of a co-located, cross-functional scrum team – consisting of developers, UX designers and product owners. The team works in a fast-paced and agile environment where ideas become reality, prototypes become products, and product increments are shipped in short cycles.

The team is responsible for portfolio-, program- and project management applications. So, the tools that are developed help users to plan their portfolio, execute projects and manage their program and deliveries (e.g. via “EPPM” or “Sirius”, for which we achieved one of the highest user satisfaction scores at SAP ever).

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Your Area of Operation:

  • You will design and implement products from conception through multiple releases. You can evolve and iterate a product over time.
  • You will be involved in all phases of the lifecycle of our products – from idea generation over development and testing up to operations and support (with focus on development).
  • Depending on your experience, you will take over responsibility for the architecture of applications or parts of it, and be able to influence their future direction
  • You will discover and learn a wide range of technologies and products, e.g. SAP Hana, Angular, SAP PPM, ABAP etc.
  • You will collaborate with a fun, supportive and highly talented team of product owners, designers, and engineers, and have close interaction with end users.
  • We take UX seriously, we take our products seriously, but we do not take ourselves too seriously.

You are also entitled to participate in our unit-wide research initiative that reserves up to 10% of our time for research & innovation.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required skills

Your Superpowers:

  • Degree in computer science or natural sciences or related field from university, university of applied sciences or similar (Also welcome: IT specialist application development / “Fachinformatiker Anwendungsentwicklung”)
  • Profound knowledge of object-oriented programming
  • Curiosity towards new technology
  • Very good team player with goal-oriented working style
  • Proficient in English and German (written and spoken). German at least B2 level.

Preferred skills

In general, you do not need to know all the technology that we are using – but you need to be curious to learn them. We will help you with that by providing trainings and „on the job“-learning. The following experiences and skills are beneficial, but not mandatory.

  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS or Angular
  • Experience with ABAP
  • Experience with database development, SAP Hana, CDS or SQL
  • Experience with SAP PPM (Portfolio and Project Management, incl. cProjects)
  • Experience with SCRUM or Kanban
  • Experience with CI/CD Platforms like Travis/Jenkins
