PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The SAP HANA team develops a platform that performs parallel in-memory processing of huge data sets to offer extremely fast real-time responses for Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP). The platform also provides tailored functionality for predictive-, business-, and spatial analytics as well as for text processing and planning - all in one architecture.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
You will be working in the Development Support team for SAP HANA, which is part of the HANA Development department. As a technical expert for database management systems and the SAP HANA platform, you will conduct in-depth technical analysis, identify viable solutions and immediate workarounds. You will drive and shape communication with all involved parties while dealing with high-priority issues and critical situations involving customers and internal stakeholders.
Our daily work has a direct influence on how our customers perceive the quality level of SAP HANA as a product.
As the Development Support team is distributed around the globe you will have colleagues all over the world. You will work closely with global development teams and acquire deep technical knowledge of the different HANA components. Your daily work will require the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and to prioritize quickly.
In your daily work you can expect to:
•    Analyze complex technical problems related to the database engine and the SAP HANA platform
•    Always find a helping hand for extremely tough cases
•    Determine and understand the complex set of conditions under which a certain issue occurs and create a simulation of the problem in internal environments
•    Influence SAP HANA as a product by

  •      Coming up with new supportability features and contributing to improve existing ones
  • Grasping gaps between real-world requirements of our customers and the capabilities of SAP HANA. You incorporate improvements by translating those into development requirements and aligning feasibility with development    

•    Work on technical issues of a complexity that sometimes requires a whole team of experts to look into and discuss on a very high skill level
•    Explain and document technical problems, workarounds and solutions in flawless, written form to customers and colleagues, understanding both, the technical impact and the business impact
•    Represent SAP HANA Development to the customer
•    Contribute to the skill level of the team by sharing your knowledge with the local and global team

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required skills

•    University degree (bachelor, diploma, master) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related fields
•    Strong analytical skills
•    Good communication skills
•    Familiar with debugging and analyzing complex problems
•    Basic LINUX skills
•    Good knowledge of Database Management Systems, SQL and database architectures
•    Good knowledge of at least one of the following programming/scripting languages: Python/Shell-Scripting, C/C++/C#, ABAP, Java
•    Ability to work well in global teams across different time-zones
•    Verbal and written working proficiency in English and German language

Preferred skills
•    Understanding of customer’s IT processes
•    Using C++-Debuggers (like GDB) or other profiling or tracing tools
•    Knowledge of SAP Applications (SAP NetWeaver, BW, S/4 HANA, …)
•    Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Delivery and Software Testing
•    Knowledge in Git, Gerrit, Jenkins
•    Distributed file systems, compression algorithms, distribution algorithms
•    Good experience with network & storage system

WORK EXPERIENCE
GRADUATE - or more years of professional experience in the field of delivering technical services to customers, analyzing complex technical issues, technical consulting, last level technical support or software development.
