To support data management in the cloud, we’re seeking a talented Senior Data Cloud Architect to join us to design and build the cloud infrastructure that powers SAP HANA and its data management services. This position focuses on designing solutions that use modern cloud infrastructure and data management technologies to provide data services that are simple, stable, secure and performant. This position requires excellent technical architecture and project management skills, in addition to hands-on development work.

As a Senior Data Cloud Architect at SAP, you will:

  • Contribute to providing a highly automated cloud-based runtime environment for scaling a distributed, multi-tenant, high-performance compute platform
  • Write software, from system automation to database artifacts, to allow us to support growing numbers of customers and data workloads
  • Design and build net-new, production-grade environments for advanced analytical workloads
  • Resolve complex issues in your area of expertise and support others in resolving issues
  • Utilize your deep experience and problem-solving skills to help prevent and investigate production issues
  • Lead complicated technical projects that interact with a wide variety of teams within the company
  • Be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of modules or features of a product
  • Mentor team members
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation


The ideal Senior Data Cloud Architect will have:

  • BS/CS, MS/CS or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience in a platform or dev-ops team in a SaaS environment and supporting mission critical services
  • At least 2 years working with relational database systems (SQL)
  • At least 2 years in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • At least 5 years' experience in one of the skill areas above (SaaS, cloud computing, database systems)
  • Extremely strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience using AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Experience with design, implementation, and maintenance of complex environments and networking constructs (VPC, subnets, load balancing, and DNS)
  • Strong automation programming skills with a track record of implementing highly reliable software
  • Coding skills in Python, Go, JavaScript, or cloud programming toolset
  • Sysadmin background with demonstrated operating system knowledge of SUSE, Ubuntu, or CentOS
  • Good knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, and cloud computing
  • Experience with cloud dev-ops toolsets, including Elasticsearch, Grafana, Prometheus, and Kibana
  • Tremendous attention to detail and the ability to build reliable and scalable software systems
  • The ability to debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues
  • A strong work ethic and a passion for problem solving, as well as being self-driven and motivated
