The Head of North America Field Marketing (NA) is an executive level position that bears the responsibility and accountability for driving business results and organizational effectiveness through the development, deployment and management of the NA marketing functions. This position will lead the development and implementation of SAP’s marketing strategy in support of the region’s pipeline and revenue objectives. 

 

The role will have a heavy focus on demand generation, account-based marketing, pipeline progression and customer adoption marketing.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

This position requires a minimum of 15 years of business experience successfully leading a large team in a matrixed, global organization. Strong preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in the NA region. An undergraduate degree in marketing/business (or equivalent) is required and an advanced degree is strongly preferred. 

 

The candidate must demonstrate the capability to drive the marketing strategy from vision to execution. S/he should thrive in a demanding, quick turnaround environment where change and transformation are a daily reality. Must have experience in managing budgets effectively across multiple departments, setting up effective metrics and business processes. The candidate must be data driven, outcome focused and possess a strong orientation in driving change management and transformation. 

 

S/he must be willing to travel frequently and demonstrate expert knowledge of working across all aspects of marketing from the creative and corporate functions to driving program and campaign execution and delivering pipeline and outcomes at the field level.

 

Experience in the High Tech (hardware or software) sector is preferred but not mandatory.  More importantly, s/he must have experience leveraging digital and social strategies to drive account engagement, demand creation and revenue impact.

 

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Marketing Strategy Excellence

  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative marketing programs in partnership with the Global Demand Center and Customer Success organization to achieve revenue and pipeline objectives.
  • Drive differentiated marketing strategies across the full customer life cycle including account acquisition, account expansion and adoption.
  • Provide strategic direction and drive strong alignment, integration and collaboration in the joint business planning process across the region and with Corporate Marketing.

 

Marketing Operations Excellence

  • Ensure cross organizational alignment and collaboration across Market Units, Portfolios and Segments to drive pipeline and revenue impact.
  • Lead the team to operational excellence ensuring scale, best practice definition and continuous learning, and ensure the transition from strategy to execution.
  • Ensure alignment between Customer Success, Field Marketing and Corporate Marketing.
  • Effectively manage the marketing budget and make effective investment decisions based on corporate, marketing and regional priorities.
  • Create and communicate goals, objectives and KPI's for all marketing initiatives and ensure measurements are achieved.
  • Build productive and influential executive relationships with internal and external constituents.

  • Demonstrate exceptional people and resource management ensuring highest potential for achieving marketing KPIs and maintaining a high-performing team.
  • Build and retain a high-performing, multi-generational team leveraging diversity and inclusion.
  • Ensure performance and role expectations are clearly defined, communicated and executed.
  • Grow talent and maintain comprehensive succession management plans.
  • Create an atmosphere where timely and quality information flows smoothly, deadlines are respected and met, and employees are engaged and energized.
