PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
 

This Senior Financial Specialist role is within Global IFRS Excellence (GIE) within the Corporate Financial Reporting department reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer of SAP. The GIE team is responsible for all IFRS accounting-related aspects (except revenue recognition) and evaluates, decides, and oversees these IFRS accounting topics for SAP entities worldwide that have a global impact and own the SAP Group Accounting Guideline. In addition, the team executes end to end complex accounting processes within its Centers of Expertise (Deals: M&A Accounting; employee benefits including pension accounting, share-based compensation, and restructuring accounting; financial instruments, litigation and compliance-related matters; hyperinflation and FX-related matters; cost of sales classification matters).

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
 

  • This Senior Finance Specialist role will be allocated to Centers of Expertise (CoE) within the team and will support in the evaluation, assessment, and resolution of various complex topics.
  • Draft memorandums of appropriate accounting treatment to support complex accounting transactions.
  • Draft or review footnotes and disclosures for the group financial statements related to assigned topical areas.
  • Support the ongoing update process of the Group Accounting Guideline.
  • Execute internal controls over financial reporting (as applicable).

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
 

  • Thorough / detailed understanding of IFRS accounting rules.
  • Good English skills, both spoken and written (with German language being a plus).
  • Good organization skills, ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment to deliver high quality results under pressure and against tight deadlines.
  • Interest in keeping up to date technically on aspects of accounting. 
  • Team player with the ability to work within an international team setup.
  • Outstanding analytical skills in combination with the ability to ‘think out of the box’.
  • Excellent in MS Excel, knowledge of accounting-related functionalities in SAP ERP preferred.

 

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
 

  • University degree with special topics in finance, preferably accounting and/or auditing.
  • CPA / CA / ACCA a plus.
  • Preferably 6+ years of working experience in accounting and reporting under IFRS or in the assurance area of an audit firm.
