What you’ll do

The ABAP Language team at Business Technology Platform ABAP (BTP ABAP) is an expert group dedicated to refining and advancing the ABAP programming language. As SAP's own programming language and central asset, ABAP plays a crucial role in developing business applications in the SAP ecosystem, standing as the industry standard and most widely used programming language in enterprise software.

We are actively seeking skilled developers (f/m/d) to join our team, with a particular emphasis on integrating advanced computing techniques into the ABAP language and environment. As a C++ or ABAP developer (f/m/d) specializing in programming languages and compiler design, you will be entrusted with applying innovative advanced computing solutions to enhance ABAP's language and programming paradigms.

Your responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with our compiler and virtual machine development teams to enhance the ABAP programming language by analyzing industry trends in programming languages and identifying opportunities for enhancement.
• Work closely with experts in computational techniques to customize solutions for specific programming use cases, with a focus on ensuring code robustness, detecting errors, and optimizing performance.
• Provide expert guidance and support to developers and clients seeking to integrate advanced ABAP features into their development workflows.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or relevant coursework and certifications
• Proficiency in programming languages, particularly C/C++ or Rust
• Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail are essential. Demonstrating programming skills and problem-solving capabilities through personal or academic projects is highly valued
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills are vital, emphasizing the ability to work effectively within a team
• Fluency in both German and English is a prerequisite for this role
