What you'll do

 

SAP aims to develop an Open Reference Architecture (ORA) for a secure and sustainable cloud edge infrastructure that includes intelligent optimization methods for data transparency and security. This reference infrastructure, aspired by the EU IPCEI-CIS (Important Project of Common European Interest – Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services) program, shall be the basis for future software development and a prerequisite for a pan-European cloud edge infrastructure. 


SAP will be working on the publicly funded project with both experienced employees from its existing workforce but also new hires. Therefore, we are looking for suitable candidates. If you are interested in Cloud Operating System development and operation, the usage and further development of Open-Source solutions and standards, interoperability, efficiency, and sustainability you should consider applying.


Garden Linux (https://gardenlinux.io) is the operating system of choice for running containerized workloads at SAP with Gardener. It is available for all virtualization platforms supported by Gardener Project on x86_64, with ARM support in the making. Garden Linux is a minimalistic operating system based on Debian with the sole focus on running containers and virtual machines with maximum security.

 

As a Technical Product Owner (f/m/d) you will be part of the core team focused on building and maintaining the distribution according to the needs of SAP and ORA scenarios.

 

In this role you will:

  • Own the Garden Linux product backlog, maintain the product roadmap and communicate the long-term vision
  • Plan and execute the program management tasks related to the product standards, product quality and release management 
  • Foster further adoption, enabling the existing adopters and collecting and organizing the feedback from all stakeholders
  • Work very closely with the Gardener team and with all SAP-internal product teams adopting Garden Linux

What you bring

 

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience across the full software development life cycle, as Product Owner/Manager. Familiarity with industry standard products (e.g. GitHub Projects & Issues, Atlassian Jira), managing relationships from technical side in customer facing roles
  • Broad experience working with Linux-based systems and their components
  • Certified as Kubernetes Application Developer (f/m/d),  Certified Kubernetes Administrator (f/m/d)
  • Experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Alibaba Cloud) and private cloud solutions (VMWare, OpenStack)
  • Hands on experience with Gardener provided Kubernetes clusters
  • Programming skills in languages such as Bash, Python, JavaScript, C, Golang or Rust preferred
  • Strong network within SAP that can be leveraged to boost adoption further. (e.g. responsible for projects involving broad range of SAP LoBs)
  • Very good written and verbal English and German language skills
