DevOps Engineering Specialist with Python (fixed-term contract)

What you’ll build

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with Python to join the Repository Based Shipment Channel (RBSC) team. RBSC enables the delivery of commercial software to SAP customers and plays an important role in SAP’s broader software distribution landscape. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a business-critical product, take ownership of meaningful technical challenges, and help the team evolve its services in response to changing customer and organizational needs.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python-based services, APIs, automation tools, and integrations.
• Contribute to the end-to-end delivery of RBSC capabilities, from design and implementation to deployment, support, and operation.
• Operate and enhance containerized services running on Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot application, pipeline, and infrastructure issues and contribute to sustainable technical solutions.
• Write clean, secure, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Collaborate in an agile team and share technical knowledge through reviews and documentation.

Qualifications

What you bring:

Required Qualifications

• Degree or comparable qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on Python development experience, including object-oriented design, APIs, automated testing, debugging, and package management.
• Ability to write maintainable, production-quality code following software engineering best practices.
• Knowledge of SQL databases.
• Knowledge of modern AI development concepts, including LLM-based applications, AI-assisted automation, and developer productivity tools.
• Experience with Linux, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Bash or shell scripting.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Collaborative, self-motivated working style and very good English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of cloud platforms, networking, and infrastructure concepts.
• Experience with Terraform, Helm, observability.
• Experience developing AI-assisted automation solutions using Python, including integrations with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs.
