Position title: SAP iXp Intern – Video Production / Visual Design, SAP Customer Innovation & Maintenance
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Expected start date: September 2021

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning. For this role, we’re looking for creative people who fit either of the following profiles:

  • Video Production and Digital Storytelling: You’re a natural storyteller who can craft an engaging story about anything, and then make it come to life in your videos. You know your way around the Adobe Creative Suite using After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator and Photoshop and you bring ninja-like design skills to any project to create great videos. You can brainstorm quickly, storyboard your ideas, communicate concepts clearly, and help work out the best way to make them a reality. If you enjoy tinkering with new formats and aren’t afraid to be a bit silly sometimes, then you’ll fit right in. We like to roll up our sleeves and help out wherever we can, so you’ll get bonus points if you can turn your design skills to regular design tasks, like graphics, presentations, printables, and websites.
  • Visual Design: You know that good design takes more than some pretty colors, obscure fonts, and quirky icons. As a visual design intern you’ll have strong opinions on what makes for good visual designs and experiences, and you won’t be afraid to voice them. You know how to research and understand the target audience’s needs, and can produce really captivating designs using proper design principles and communication psychology. If you can explain the difference between an infographic and a poster, pixels and vectors, and CMYK and RGB, you’ll go straight to the top of the class. You’ll get bonus points if you can do voiceovers or help out on video projects as well.

  • As a video production intern, you’ll get your hands dirty working on every aspect of video production and storytelling, from ideation and planning, through to production and distribution. This will include:
  • Brainstorming, researching, and refining stories that bring each prototype to life.
  • Working with the team to develop the right format and style to tell these stories, whether that’s social media content, trailers, promos, explainers, interviews, interactive videos, or something cool we haven’t thought of yet.
  • Absorbing complex information and turning it into clear, easy-to-understand scripts and storyboards
  • Using your video and audio skills to create jaw-droppingly creative and informative videos that grab the audience’s attention and leave them smiling
  • Helping to define the overall creative direction for our videos

As a visual design intern, you’ll roll your sleeves up and work on all aspects of the branding and storytelling process for our prototypes and communications activities. This will include:

  • Brainstorming and collaborating with the team to create the look and feel for the pitches and assets we use to tell the story of each prototype
  • Using your design skills to bring life to logos, websites, leaflets, brochures, and videos
  • Designing presentations that don’t look like your typical PowerPoint deck so that audiences have an engaging and immersive experience

In [PROTOPIA] we’re constantly looking for new ways and better ways to create amazing things, which means you’ll be learning constantly.

  • With access to large video production and design communities in SAP, you’ll make lots of connections and pick up all sorts of skills along the way.
  • You’ll gain great experience working as part of a dynamic, innovative and agile prototyping team
  • You’ll learn how to work as part of a distributed, diverse, and creative team of innovators and boost your communication, entrepreneurial, and professional skills in the process.
  • If you join us as a video production intern, you’ll get hands-on experience of the entire storytelling and video production process from identifying concepts, crafting stories, producing high-profile videos, and all of the typical post-production work that makes for great videos.
  • If you join us as a design intern, you’ll get hands-on experience of working collaboratively to brainstorm and develop the brand and visual identity for our prototypes and our team, creating a range of visual assets to communicate with audiences, and working closely with other creatives to shape how we communicate in future.

Cover letters and CVs are great (and essential) but to help us pick the right people we want to see what you can really do. Before we can look at your application you need to include a showreel or a portfolio of 4-5 projects (course work is perfectly fine!) you have worked on that demonstrate your skills, creative process, and potential.

For both of these profiles we’re looking for interesting people with interesting ways of looking at the world, but as a minimum, you’ll tick the following boxes:

  • You must be a student currently registered on a course in a relevant area such as video production, design, multimedia, or their equivalent
  • You love telling stories and creating visuals that grab and hold people’s attention.
  • You have a strong eye for good visual design and the skills to turn ideas into “things”.
  • You’re methodical, meticulous, and able to deliver on what you promise.
  • You’re not afraid to use “MacGyver” as a verb.
  • You have a talent for simplifying and explaining abstract concepts.
  • You’re a great communicator and you write clearly, succinctly and with empathy.
