What you’ll do:

As a part of ABAP Platform unit, we are committed to deliver innovative features and functionalities which enables ABAP developers to build, maintain, and evolve their software solutions for any premise and cloud by providing developer tools and frameworks. We are also involved in enabling our partners and customers to develop and operate their solutions on ABAP Platform, specifically using ABAP Environment on SAP Business Technology Platform ( Steampunk ) and SAP S/4HANA Cloud ABAP Environment. If you're passionate about making a significant impact on the world of business software development and believe in the immense power of ABAP, this role offers a chance to contribute your expertise to SAP’s core components. Your day-to-day will include:

• Design, development and testing of usable software in tight collaboration with the Product owner, team members, stakeholders and management
• Working on problems of relatively complex scope, through general usage of standard programming concepts and principles and application of own judgment
• Building upon domain knowledge and technical/proprietary skills to reach levels of expertise
• Having a logical approach to problem-solving and have the ability to respond to detailed queries
• Working as a fully contributing team member with independent planning & execution responsibilities
• Ability to technically lead a topic independently and take individual ownership of the technical component end-to-end
• As a Gen AI, Pro Code Tools, and IDE Developer with our team, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing evolution of business software development. You will help evolving the IDEs and tools used for building business software with ABAP.
• Follow emerging trends and technologies, particularly in AI, pro-code tools, and  evolution of IDEs, and use this knowledge to drive continuous improvement.

What you bring:

• 3 – 4 years of relevant experience with Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology, majoring in Computer Science or Information Science
• Excellent programming and object-oriented design skills (JAVA, ABAP)
• Solid knowledge of Gen AI, Pro Code Tools, and Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), whether through education or personal projects
• Strong in algorithms, data structures and database design concepts
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with the team in the design and development aspects for the product
• Ability to work independently, and eagerness to learn and explore new topics
• Understanding of in-memory database, Generative AI, eclipse plugin development and HTML5 are added advantages
• Strong modelling skills using UML, Hands-on experience of writing high quality code along with units test [JUnit/AUnits]
• Goal-oriented team player with good communication skills.

Welcome to the ABAP Developer Tools unit, the unit providing the ABAP tools used globally to build mission critical business software. AI-supported ABAP development holds enormous potential for SAP, as well as for our customers and partners. The BTP ABAP teams provide the necessary technology and tools for this.

Our role extends to a broad spectrum of developer tools; our IDE offerings, such as ADT for Eclipse, play an integral role in our PaaS offering SAP BTP ABAP Environment as well as SAP S/4HANA in all versions. Our Custom Code Migration Tools and General AI initiatives are critical to the RISE program and thus pivotal in SAP's overall strategic thrust.
