What you'll do
We are looking for a committed and service-oriented professional to join our agile Data Protection Office for SAP Global Cloud Operations (GCO – former SAP Enterprise Cloud Services – ECS), ensuring data protection and compliance requirements in a complex and dynamic cloud environment. In this role, you will take ownership of strategic and operational data protection processes, collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, and make a significant contribution to SAP’s cloud-first strategy. You will be the key interface between data protection, risk, and quality management, actively shaping processes, tools, and awareness initiatives.
Your Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with data protection and regulatory requirements (GDPR, ISO, SAP policies) and support internal and external audits.
- Coordinate strategic and operational tasks within the GCO Data Protection Office, including alignment with data protection coordinators, subject matter experts, and stakeholders (e.g., Legal, Data Protection & Privacy Office).
- Implement data protection requirements, including Procedure Enrollment (PET), to ensure compliance for processes, tools, and services under GCO Controllership.
- Deliver proactive, service-oriented support to data protection roles and functions within GCO responsible for operational compliance implementation.
- Analyze use cases, create compliance reports, and present results using modern tools (Microsoft 365 including Power BI Reports, Power Automate Flows, Power Pages, Lists and Excel) to drive efficiency and transparency.
- Provide guidance and training to teams on data protection and compliance, while maintaining and improving platform content (e.g. Wiki, SharePoint, MS Teams, dashboards, workflows). Distribute newsletters and share relevant data protection & privacy updates.
- Develop and roll out learning materials and plan awareness activities for the GCO business unit.
What you bring
Data Protection Expertise
- 5+ years of experience in data protection processes and PET tools, including implementation and compliance monitoring.
Example: Conduct privacy assessments and ensure PET features are correctly implemented. - Familiarity with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and applying compliance standards.
Example: Adjust Microsoft 365 settings for GDPR-compliant data storage.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and enthusiasm for digital collaboration.
Example: Set up a SharePoint site, optimize permissions, and train users for efficient collaboration.
Service Orientation & Problem Solving
- Strong customer focus with proactive support and efficient issue resolution.
Example: Perform a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for a critical system outage using SUDO log information, ensuring compliance with GDPR principles and documenting access restrictions and retention policies.
Soft Skills
- Excellent teamwork and networking skills, combined with independent working style and analytical, solution-oriented thinking.
Example: Collaborate with security teams to investigate a data breach and propose improvements. - High adaptability and quick learning of new technologies.
Example: Implement a new PET feature after quickly mastering documentation. - Outstanding communication skills and a structured, organized approach to work.
Example: Create clear end-user guidelines for secure Teams usage and present them in a workshop.

We are the SAP GCO Data Protection, Risk & Quality Office – a strategic governance team responsible for the SAP Global Cloud Operations (GCO). Our mission is to establish and oversee governance frameworks that ensure data protection, risk transparency, and continuous quality improvement across GCO operations. This builds Customer Trust and fulfills the requirements of SAP’s Data Protection Management System (DPMS) in accordance with GDPR and SAP’s Global Risk Management Policy.
As compliance officers, we work closely with SAP GCO leadership team of Peter Pluim and report directly to SAP COO Officer Yoginder Parmar, ensuring our governance activities are strategically aligned and deliver measurable impact across the organization.
