What you'll do:
We are looking for a Senior SAP HANA specialist who can become an integral part of the team & has a strong focus on databases and data management topics, experienced in SAP and SAP HANA best practices and in Cloud Service Engineering processes.
The Senior SAP HANA Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing SAP HANA systems on IBM Cloud Power Virtual Server (Power VS) and Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) environments using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and potentially other environments. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of the SAP HANA landscape.
Role Requirements and key responsibilities:
- Design and architect SAP HANA solutions on IBM Cloud Power VS and VPC platforms with a focus on scalability, performance, and security.
- Lead the installation, configuration, and management of SAP HANA on RHEL within IBM Cloud environments and define standard storage templates for various machine types
- Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of SAP HANA with existing systems and networks.
- Develop and implement best practices for SAP HANA administration, including backup and recovery, system refreshes, patching, and performance tuning.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise in RISE migration projects, including on-premises to cloud transitions and upgrades.
- Monitor and optimize SAP HANA system performance, including database tuning, query optimization, and resource management.
- Conduct capacity planning and sizing for SAP HANA deployments to meet business requirements.
- Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies for SAP HANA systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to SAP HANA on IBM Cloud Power VS and VPC environments.
- Stay updated with the latest SAP HANA and IBM Cloud technologies, tools, and best practices.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar with 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience as an SAP HANA Architect with a focus on IBM Cloud Power VS and VPC environments.
- Strong expertise in SAP HANA installation, configuration, administration, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with IBM Cloud Power Virtual Server (Power VS) and Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) services.
- Proficiency in managing SAP HANA on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other Linux operating systems.
- Solid understanding of cloud architecture, including networking, security, and infrastructure services.
- Experience with high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies for SAP HANA and Pacemaker experience.
- Experience in HANA features/services like NSE, Extension nodes, XSA etc.
- Strong Experience in designing, implementing, and onboarding Cloud Services and solutions to the solutions Portfolio.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- SAP HANA and IBM Cloud certifications are a plus
Good to Have
- Architect level certification with one or more hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, or Shell scripting for SAP HANA administration.
- Experience with SAP BW, SAP S/4HANA, or other SAP applications on HANA.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Docker in SAP environments.
- Strong scripting / programming skills will be preferred
- Familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and/or SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and other SAP SaaS solutions
- Familiarity with other SAP Database products – SAP ASE, SAP IQ, SAP Replication Server and other databases like DB2, MS-SQL etc.
- Familiarity with RISE with SAP offerings
