As a Software Design Engineer with the Concur Expense Engineering team, you will help deliver high availability, 24/7 Concur Expense services.  Concur’s expense management platform is experiencing terrific growth. Our team is responsible for managing Concur Expense platform APIs and asynchronous expense processing. Every day, our services respond to tens of millions of API calls, process millions of workflow records, and send millions of user notifications. We work at enterprise scale on systems that make a difference for our company and for customers.  As part of our team, you will build new features, address critical client-facing issues, and help design the future of Concur’s technical architecture.

What you’ll do:

  • Join a high-performing agile team and help refine the team’s standards and processes.
  • Build enhancements and new features for the spend aggregation and reconciliation microservices.  Work with teammates to solve customer issues and requests.
  • Work on all aspects of software development including design, development, and operations.
  • Build software using diverse cloud technologies such as AWS (including SQS, EKS,  Lambda, S3, and more), Kubernetes, Kibana, New Relic, and Sysdig.
  • Build automation to exercise product functionality.
  • Ship secure, stable, high-quality code that makes a real difference for customers.

To accomplish this, you will need:

  • Experience with programming languages: Have proficiency with Java. That is our primary choice to build scalable services. Familiarity with spring framework and REST protocol will be ideal. Experience with object-oriented concepts is a must have competency.
  • Experience with database technologies: We use MSSQL, MySQL, and noSQL databases.  Experience with one or more of these datastore technologies is a must.
  • Experience with AWS tools: Experience with tools like SQS, RDS, EKS, and/or Elasticache are nice to have.  Additional experience with CFN, IAM and more are also helpful.
  • Desire to learn new technologies
  • Team player:  highly collaborative, able to listen to/work with others, able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • As an Individual:  Have a result-driven personality, high enthusiasm, energy, and most importantly have a sense of humor.
