What you'll do

SAP aims to develop an Open Reference Architecture (ORA) for a secure and sustainable cloud edge infrastructure that includes intelligent optimization methods for data transparency and security. This reference infrastructure, aspired by the EU IPCEI-CIS (Important Project of Common European Interest – Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services) program, shall be the basis for future software development and a prerequisite for a pan-European cloud edge infrastructure. SAP will be working on the public funded project with both experienced employees from its existing workforce but also new hires. Therefore, we are looking for suitable candidates. If you are interested in Cloud Operating System development and operation, the usage and further development of Open-Source solutions and standards, interoperability, efficiency, and sustainability take the chance and apply!

In your new role you will:

• Design and implement a modern, high performance storage solution using cloud native principles and technologies
• Develop Kubernetes operators to automate all operational aspects of a distributed cloud infrastructure stack
• Use modern observability tools like Prometheus to ensure availability and performance of your services
• Assume end-to-end ownership from design, development, testing, deployment and lifecycle automation 

What you bring

• Degree in Applied Sciences, preferably in Computer Science or related field 
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or OpenStack 
• Advanced understanding of cloud networking principles 
• Strong track record of software development preferably with Golang or C++ 
• Preferably experience working with Kubernetes and related cloud native technologies 
• Very good English skills written and spoken
• +5 years of professional experience

You will join the Converged Cloud Engineering Team operating a large scale internal IAAS platform deployed worldwide in 17 regions to support all of SAP’s cloud businesses on a global scale using a modern cloud-native technology stack.
