The mission of SAP S/4HANA and the Public Cloud ERP Product Management team is to drive and grow SAP’s core business as a market leader in Cloud ERP. We are responsible for defining product scenarios based on market and target customer needs and translating them into consumable product requirements for engineering teams. We work hand-in-hand with our engineering and product marketing teams, as well as with our customers and partners on continuously improving our SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition product. Product Management is the authoritative voice of the legitimate challenges customers face, evangelizing an outcome-based product vision and roadmap that truly solves customer pain points by creating products that delight, yet serve the needs of SAP.
The Role
We are looking for a passionate candidate (m/f/d) that has an interdisciplinary mindset and can lead a scrum team team without formal authority and collaborates with cross-functional from other domains. Ideally, you bring a track record in software product management and have a background in accounting.
You will need to define and validate all requirements against the defined SaaS target market and strictly order the backlog for your product area in accounting.
As a product manger, you are accountable for the product succes in your area and steer the product based on adoption and satisfaction KPIs enriched by facts and figures.
What you’ll do
As Product Manager for Record-to-Report/Accounting in Public Cloud ERP you will work in a matrix set-up. This means you work very closely with a scrum team along the innovation process from ideation to adoption and you work with a team of Product Managers across multiple locations on the cross-domain alignment to work towards the targeted accounting architecture. As a product manager you will report to the Product Management Head of Record-to-Report/Accounting in Cloud ERP. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own the product backlog of a scrum team in the area of accounting providing the foundation for an accounting infrastructure supporting cloud qualities
- Present a holistic overview on the overall product vision and product backlog and ensure the product teams have a comprehensive understanding of the product backlog
- Maintain and prioritize the overall product backlog
- Utilize user personas, story boards, use case diagrams, and experiments to ensure the accounting architecture finally meets customer needs
- Take responsibility and accountability for the success, quality, adoption, usage and satisfaction of the product area
- Contribute to the efficiency, effectiveness and improvement of processes used in Product Engineering
- Work closely with Engineering and UX (User Experience) colleagues
- Engage with customers, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure we are solving the right problems and building products with high adoption rates and good satisfaction scores
- Understand stakeholder challenges & constraints
- Build and maintain partnerships with internal stakeholders and external customers and partners
- Continuously drive the improvements for the product
What you bring
- 3+ years of experience as a product manager in the tech industry, preferably with accounting or financial software products
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and related business processes
- Excellent verbal, communication skills with customers, partners, and internal teams, as well as good presentation skills
- Experience with agile product management methodologies, frameworks, and tools
- Certification in Product Management (CPM) or similar will be advantageous
- Knows and emphasizes with all functions involved in a SaaS business
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectivly with cross-functional teams
- Good coordination skills that enable the orchestration of a cross-team collaboration
- Ability to prioritize requirements and judge their impact on the current infrastructure
- Advocate for the cloud ready approach within our product portfolio
- Understands the cloud ecosystem where it is going and how to leverage
- Strong problem-solving abilities with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Analytical skills with a structured approach to problem-solving
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with demonstrable success in previous positions
- Fluent English language skills
