About the Team
The Data Management Center of Excellence (CoE), a key pillar within the Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) Cloud Architecture and Engineering (CAE) organization is the common theme across all CAE areas for database and data management technologies. Our mission is to establish reliable and efficient data foundations with best-in-class database and data management capabilities for ECS. This team works across all ECS CAE areas for database and data management technologies, providing expertise for operational excellence, analytics and insights, and automation driven intelligent data operations.
The CAE Data Management Team of SAP Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) drives a multitude of Projects and Programs that fuels new or improved service offerings consumed directly by our end customers, with strong focus on Database and Data Management, TCO reduction and Strategic direction to form our future Architecture standards.
Summary
We are looking for a Project Manager / Program Coordinator who can become an integral part of the Data Management team. The position will be responsible for monitoring and governing a portfolio of many small 3-month (quarterly) projects. As required, the role may also be responsible for the project management and/or status tracking of one or more projects concurrently.
What you'll do
- Project Manager Responsibilities
- Contributor to the development of the Project Methodology, Framework and standards used by the DM Team. Emphasis will be on streamlining and continuous improvement proposals.
- Participate in virtual PMO team meetings for ECS/CAE. Collaborate with peer Project Managers to identify synergies and collaborate on prioritization for overall group
- Support Lead Engineers that drive projects within the team. Track execution of approved Project plan with focus on timeline and deliverables availability for further technical validation. Manage Project lifecycle according to agreed methodology, within defined timeline, scope and quality, safeguard project status thru risk management methods.
- Delivering specific outcomes defined by us as part of 1ECSPBM guidelines.
- Oversee tasks and help manage timelines.
- Engaging with project stakeholders.
- Program Coordinator Responsibilities
- Development of Annual and Quarterly Roadmaps for new projects. Alignment of Roadmaps with other teams within ECS to confirm support for planned projects.
- Conduct Quality Audits to ensure compliance to project methodologies and standards. This includes ensuring proper documentation is in place when project risk becomes elevated or project is escalated to management’s attention.
- Track and report on status, progress and risks of active projects to management and other stakeholders.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent area with total of 5 years of professional experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant project management or portfolio management experience, preferably in IT industry.
- Understanding of project management methodologies (e.g. traditional, Agile, Scrum, Kanban), techniques and tools.
- Previous experience working with JIRA highly desired
- Previous experience working with Confluence highly desired
- Demonstrated experience to create and maintain project deliverables such as, project charter, status reports, meeting minutes, and project schedule.
- Demonstrated experience in managing issues, scope and quality while bringing projects to successful completion within time requirements
- Proven track record of coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
- Able to work in virtual teams across multiple cultures and timezones;
- Comfortable reaching out to and coordinating with virtual teams and team members
- Team Player with excellent communication skills, and is empathetic and collaborative
- Highly self-motivated, well-organized, self-driven, independent; will take ownership of assigned tasks
Good to Have, but not required:
- A project management certification like PMP or similar
- Familiarity of the SAP environment and SAP’s internal processes
- Familiarity of SAP’s product, technology and services portfolio
- Familiarity or hands-on experience with SAP Databases (HANA, SAP IQ and ASE)
- Familiarity or hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Familiarity or hands-on experience with one or more public cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Familiarity with SAP Enterprise Cloud Solutions (ECS), including “Rise with SAP”
- Familiarity in enterprise applications preferably SAP S/4HANA and/or SAP Basis and Netweaver
