PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

 SAP goes to market per industry. The global “Wholesale Distribution” industry business unit (IBU) is a team within the consumer industries solution management organization that is responsible for a variety of sub-segments like high tech, food, industrial, pharmaceutical distribution, or trading.  The team works closely together with development, product management, other industry units and Solution partners to drive innovation and to provide an attractive solution portfolio. The IBU engages with the SAP sales and services organization for successful customer engagements, creating go-to-market assets and actively supporting sales in key market units.

 EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

 You will be an active player in this experienced, energetic industry solution management team (IBU Wholesale Distribution) working closely together with other industry, field and product units. As part of the role, you will also be bridging the customer-facing teams with product engineering teams and directly engage with customers and partners.

 In order to be successful in this role, team members must have:

  • A good understanding of the key drivers, trends and processes of the wholesale distribution and trading industry
  • Knowledge of the industry ecosystem in the region
  • A thorough understanding of SAP’s portfolio of technologies and solutions relevant for the industry

Here are the most important roles, tasks and responsibilities of the industry solution manager for Wholesale Distribution we are looking for:

  1. Local industry solution manager for SAP’s Wholesale Distribution offering – identification of fit, definition of value proposition, vision, strategy as well as roadmap for SAP’s solutions relevant for the industry, maintaining the GTM assets and enabling our customer facing teams
  2. Member of customer value-added teams, actively supporting selected customer cases (e.g., demand generation, deals), and acting as the trusted industry advisor in selected key customer cases
  3. Industry idea owner, driving specific innovation topics, establishing a network of experts and collaborating on them with other SAP teams, development partners and selected customers, developing valuable assets, establishing a customer work group and attracting co-innovation customers
  4. Project lead for cross-industry initiatives or participating in these initiatives to represent the IBU Wholesale Distribution

Based on the knowledge and skill of the candidate there will be additional tasks as part of the described purpose of the IBU.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES 

Required skills

  • University degree in business administration/management, information technology or similar
  • Wholesale Distribution and trading industry relevant domain, process and solution portfolio knowledge and market insights
  • Knowledge of SAP’s comprehensive solution portfolio
  • Ability to define and articulate the value proposition, vision, strategy and road map for relevant industry solutions
  • Track record in supporting sales organizations in deals and customer engagements
  • Confidence in engaging in cross-functional projects with experts from different areas
  • Strong team player with excellent internal and external communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to independently work in a virtual environment as part of an international team
  • Continuous learner with the ability to apply expertise to changing situations
  • Excellent English language skills

Preferred skills

  • Ability to build and maintain networks with industry thought leaders, partners and companies (Business and IT resources)
  • Experience in innovation discovery and the management of co-innovation projects with customers and software partners
  • Familiar with trusted advisor and executive sponsor roles

 WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in product management, solution management, consulting, sales or value management
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in industry relevant business areas, processes and solutions
