Summary & Role Information:
As a team member of the Cloud Platform Monitoring team you'll take over responsibilities around the internal service OctoBus (monitoring infrastructure, which is based on
ELK-stack  - ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana).

  • Work as part of a virtual team and drive topics from an SecDevOps perspective
  • Automation focusses on pipeline based deployment of software components and infrastructure automation including containerization, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code and adopting CI/CD based workflows    
  • Operations includes self-monitoring (e.g. Prometheus), self-maintaining solutions using automatically initiated correction actions, documentation of standard operating procedures and continuous improvement based on problems   
  • Cross collaboration in IT/with other operation teams to understand  & support colleagues, customers, management and processes by providing them with valuable analysis around infrastructure status, monitoring event, automation and self-healing.
  • Be part of a virtual SCRUM team, working on backlogs of multiple components and tools
  • Documentation of work items and training of team-members and other involved parties
  • Be open for compensated on-call duty and planned night/weekend activities

Experience/ Role Requirements:

  • University degree or similar education in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • DevOps and agile mindset
  • Knowledge in the Elastic-Stack (ElasticSearch, Kibana & Logstash)
  • Strong in Linux Operating System & Containers (ideally Docker)
  • Understand & apply infrastructure automation with Kubernetes & Helm
  • Knowledge and experience in cloud-native principals, cloud development & automation, including API's, REST, OpenStack, Continuous Delivery, Scripting, Github, etc.
  • Usage of Slack, Jira for communication, planning and documentation of work  
  • Ability to structure topics, multi-task and work under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication (written and verbal English and German), presentation and analytical skills

About the Team:
The Cloud Platform Monitoring Team operates the datalake & monitoring data collection for Global Cloud Services, and by doing this helps to improve stability & scalability of our cloud platforms.
