This is a 100% remote position for applicants based in the continental United States. This position is responsible for working Pacific Standard Hours (PST).


The Database Development Engineer will be administering highly available OLTP and business database services in a mixed CoLo/Cloud environment.  This will include opportunities to contribute to developing automation to deploy and maintain MSSQL infrastructure in a DBaaS environment both in our Colo's and AWS. You will work with Senior Database engineers to provide or improve:



  •  Automation development and implementation of MSSQL management processes.
  • Perform POC analysis and documentation for complex business critical database processes.
  • Performance analysis and optimization tuning for MSSQL.
  • Provide analysis for High Impact incidents with Corrective Action recommendations.
  • Development, implementation and tuning of Database alerting.
  • Develop and implement cloud infrastructure solution as part of our database product offerings.
  • Develop database as a service and automation for MSSQL using Powershell, Python, AWS CLI, Lambda, etc
  • Leverage the latest and greatest AWS Cloud technologies as you build and innovate
  • Embrace end-to-end ownership and DevOps practices: design, code, test, deploy and monitor your solutions in providing direct value to the Database Team.


Specific Skills or Other Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field of study and 3 years of experience required.
  • US Citizen based within the US - eligible for DoD clearance.
  • AWS management and migrations services for MSSQL systems.  
  • Experience with AWS as well as container technologies, CFN, SSM, etc...
  • Core database administration competencies including high-availability, recoverability (backup\restore), installation and configuration, security, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with programming languages: Have proficiency with Python and PowerShell.
  • Configuration and administration of MySQL database security and access permissions.
  • Supporting relational databases in an enterprise-level production environment. 
  • Experience should also include DevOPs framework, including participation in Agile/Scrum development process with two-week sprint deployments.
  • Must have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Able to support on-call rotation.
  • Identifying and implementing cost-saving strategies to reduce ongoing cloud expenses.
  • Handle end-to-end development, including designing, coding, testing, and debugging during each sprint cycle
  • Experience with AWS cloud services like EC2, IAM, lambda, etc.


Clearance Requirement:

Active Unclassified IT-1 Position of Trust, Tier 5 Investigation (T5clearance required. Please note: one of the requirements of this Clearance is that the individual be a US citizen.  If chosen candidate does not have active clearance, the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Unclassified IT-1 Position of Trust, Tier 5 Investigation (T5) clearance.
