We are looking for a Developer (Junior) (f/m/d) who supports SAP Logistics Planning and Optimization development. As a Developer, you have the opportunity to contribute to the conceptions and development of the future logistics planning solutions in order to address the social, technical and economic challenges of our century. 

Intelligent and sustainable multimodal logistics solutions relieve the burden on the infrastructure by optimizing capacity utilization to avoid empty runs, and lead to a reduction in emissions of microparticles in cities and metropolitan areas by optimizing the modal mix.

With SAP’s leadership these solutions will be introduced into leading industrial and logistics companies across multiple industries worldwide and have a massive impact on making business processes more sustainable and climate-friendly.  

You will be a vital contributor to the full development cycle by discovering requirements together with our customers and partners in industry and research, identifying the appropriate architecture, designing, implementing and testing the planning algorithms as well as maintaining it.



  • Experience in optimization procedures and/or other artificial intelligence methods
  • Enthusiasm for programming and very good knowledge in any object-oriented programming language (C++ is an advantage)
  • Ability to rapidly translate modern concepts, business models, and technologies and drive its adoption
  • Demonstrate excellent quality, design, development and delivery skills in scrum teams working in short development and release cycles
  • Excellent communication and networking skills with a result driven attitude; being a team player and ability to work in virtual teams
  • Fluent in verbal and written German and English 
  • Preferred field(s) of study: University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or comparable qualifications



The SAP mathematical Optimization team develops modern optimization solutions by using optimization and artificial intelligence methods that are used in all applications that industrial and logistics companies worldwide use to plan and optimize their business. 
The planning procedures are characterized by high scalability concerning the volume to be planned (procedure efficiency), broad functionality and seamless integrations into the logistics applications. The solution will natively exploit SAP’s state-of-the-art capabilities in SAP Cloud Platform deployed on Kubernetes. 
You will be part of the Logistics Optimization development team focusing on multi-modal transportation planning and optimization.
